Beauty and the Beast is one of those iconic movies that you can just watch over and over again. It’s hard to believe that we were first graced with this beloved classic, twenty five years ago. Now, here I am sharing one of my favorite movies from my childhood with my little princess. When Disney sent me a copy of the movie last week, I knew we needed to have a movie night right away so I could introduce her to all my favorite characters like Belle, Chip & Mrs. Potts. I made these Beauty and the Beast cupcakes inspired by one of my favorite princesses last weekend and they were the perfect treat for our movie night. These Belle cupcakes are perfect for your party, celebration or just because.

Now’s the perfect time to add this classic to your collection. In addition to the enjoying the movie, we really enjoyed the bonus features included on the disc. Especially the sneak peek of the new live-action “Beauty and the Beast”. I cannot wait until next year when this movie is released. It already looks like it’s going to be amazing.

ABOUT THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION

“Twenty-five years ago, Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” broke ground as the first animated feature film to receive an Academy Award® nomination for best picture. The beloved classic won two Oscars®, including best song and best original score, as well as a Golden Globe Award® for best comedy/musical. Now a whole new generation of viewers will follow the magical journey of Belle, an independent and intelligent, modern-day heroine who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her precarious situation, Belle befriends the castle’s enchanted staff—a teapot, a candelabra and a mantel clock, among others—and ultimately learns to see beneath the Beast’s exterior to discover the heart and soul of a prince.

The Walt Disney Signature Collection edition features four versions of “Beauty and the Beast,” including a never-before-released on home entertainment, sing-along version. A host of all-new bonus extras include a rare opportunity to gather around the piano with some of Disney’s greatest composers, as they sing and share how they’ve personally been inspired by the film’s award-winning music; a look at how Walt Disney himself sought to adapt this famous fairytale; a nostalgic look back with Paige O’Hara, the voice of Belle; behind-the-scenes access into the recording booth with the cast; and a sneak peek at Disney’s upcoming live-action re-telling of “Beauty and the Beast,” arriving in theaters in 2017.”

Now back to these easy to make cupcakes. They’re great for an at-home movie night like we used them for but they’d also be great for a princess birthday party.

I used box cake mix and my homemade buttercream recipe for the icing.

The candy flowers were from Wilton and they were perfect for this recipe.

While the cupcakes were baking, I made the icing and just used yellow gel food coloring to get the yellow color. I wanted it to match the cupcake liners as closely as possible.

Once I piped the icing on, I place a red rose in the center of each.
