As I was cleaning out my son’s room a few weeks ago, I came across a neat little stack of Disney autograph books. Each one filled with autographs that we acquired on trips over the years. Each trip, we filled up those books with as many autographs as they’d hold. So we had to get a new one each trip. They were cute and he loved getting them signed but we never, ever, looked at them again after that trip. So when it came to our trip for DisneySMMC, I knew I wanted to find something different for Evie. She loves the characters and I knew she’d love to collect their autographs but I wanted to use something that she’d use again. Something that we’d look at well past our trip and hopefully get plenty of use out of. Two days before our trip, she picked out a book to read before bed and brough it over to me, it was one of her Disney Little Golden Books. That’s when it hit me, this is what I’ll use to collect autographs for her. So if you’re looking for a unique Disney autograph book idea, check out this list….
When is comes to the Disney Parks, there is no shortage of delicious food waiting for you just around every corner. No seriously, there is. There are restaurants and snack carts strategically placed all around the parks to make it easy for you to grab a tasty snack whenever you get the urge. And that list of yummy treats keeps growing each year with the addition of new things. So how do you keep track? Well you really don’t. You can scour Instagram and your favorite blogs before your trip and make a list before you go. To help you in your planning , I’m sharing some of my favorite sweet & savory snacks. Hopefully, I’ll inspire you to try something new on your next trip. …

By now you’ve probably heard of, or at least seen photos of Disney’s Minnie Van Service. I knew going into our trip that I just had to take a ride in one of Disney’s Minnie Vans. I mean, it’s a car decked out like my girl Minnie, this girl had to go for a ride. So I bet you’re wondering, is it worth the hype? Is it worth the cost? Well, let me tell you all about it!

Baby’s first haircut is a momentous occasion. I remember what a big day it was when we took my son for his first haircut. For a Disney fan, I can’t think of a more magical place to have baby’s first haircut then at the Magic Kingdom. Disney knows this too that’s why they have a special package to commemorate baby’s first haircut in true Disney fashion. Unfortunately for me, we didn’t take our first trip to Walt Disney World until he was two and a half and he already had his “first haircut” at this point. Actually he had quite a few by then but I was determined to make sure my daughter had her first haircut at Walt Disney World. When we attended the Disney Social Media Moms Conference last May she was only 7 months old at the time but I had to have this experience with her while we were there and I’m so glad I did.
This is one of the most overlooked offerings at the parks in my opinion. I couldn’t believe how many Disney “fans” didn’t know about this experience. So many friends messaged me and commented that they had no idea Disney World offered this package. If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World and are traveling with your little one, this is one package I suggest you book! You’ll treasure the memories of baby’s first haircut for a lifetime.
In the midst of all my planning, somehow I forgot to make an appointment to get this done. I make appointments for everything and don’t chance walk-ins when we go to Disney World. Especially if it’s something I really want to experience. Thankfully they do take walk in appointments so we headed over to the Magic Kingdom after baby’s nap to see what they had available. We had a little wait, about 7 people ahead of us, but since some people weren’t there when their name was called, it moved quick.
Our barber was the greatest. She put Mickey Mouse stickers on the baby’s feet and outfit to keep her occupied and distracted while she gave her a quick trim. I was worried that because she was so young she might not have a magical time but she was quite amused with her stickers and sat just fine.
Once her haircut was over, the cutest little set of Mickey Ears were placed on her head for a quick photo opp. I wish I knew about this experience with my son when he was younger. It made a magical trip even more magical. We’ll have these memoires to treasure for a lifetime.
Here are some of the common questions I get asked about the package:
Where can I get this done?
The Baby’s 1st Haircut package is offered at the Harmony Barber Shop in Magic Kingdom. Tucked away in the corner, it’s easy to miss. When you enter Magic Kingdom, it will be on the left hand side of Main Street, past City Hall and right past the firehouse.
Do I need an appointment?
I highly suggest making an appointment. I did not (I know, I know what was I thinking) so they do take walk in appointments but we did have to wait. To make an appointment call (407) 939-7529.
The haircut package comes with “My 1st Haircut” Mickey Ears, a cute certificate and a pixie dusted pouch to hold baby’s hair clippings.
How much does it cost?
The package price was $24.95 and well worth every penny. I would have paid a lot more than that for the experience.
If you’re looking for a magical experience for your little one who may be too young to experience The PIrates’s League or the Bibbity Boppoity Boutique this is the perfect experience.
For the past seven days, I had the pleasure of calling Disney’s Yacht Club Resort home. When I found out that this is where we’d be staying for this year’s Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, I was ecstatic. I’ve never stayed here before and have only seen the resort while on one of the river boats that dropped off from Epcot. I spent plenty of nights leanring about the resort and studying pictures online but nothing compares to the real thing. When our Magical Express bus pulled up, we were quickly greeted by friendly cast members waiting and a gorgeous hotel that you just have to see in person….
Having a child with a life-threatening food allergy, I know first hand how scary it is to eat away from home let alone take a vacation. When you no longer have control over the food your child is going to eat and the contaminants it may come in contact with, it’s a lot of stress. There’s great news for parents of children who suffer from severe food allergies like my son. Disney Parks and Cruise Line have teamed up with Mylan Inc. the makes of EpiPen® & EpiPen Jr® to have special EpiPen® locations throughout the parks and cruise ships that began in late 2014. If you’re child suffers from severe food allergies, then you know first hand the anxiety and worry that comes with travel.
My son was first diagnosed with his peanut allergy when he was 2, only a few weeks before our first trip to Walt Disney World. A tiny bite of a peanut butter cupcake immediately sent him to the hospital in full anaphylactic shock. Within in seconds of taking a bite, he began vomiting, broke out in hives and had trouble breathing.
That day was quite possibly the scariest day of my life and his too. He’s ten now and still remembers how scary that day was. He always checks the ingredients and double checks with one of us before he eats anything new.
Within minutes life as we knew it changed. We had to watch everything he ate. We had to make sure no one fed him snacks that weren’t cleared by us first. We had to check ingredients and menus anytime we ate out.
Just a few weeks after this happened, we had our first trip to Walt Disney World. We were looking forward to it for months so there was no way I was canceling. I just knew I had to double and triple check anything we gave to him, I had his EpiPens but I was still nervous. At the time, I had no idea how amazing Disney is dealing with food allergies.
Every trip (and we go every year) Disney has been amazing in handling his allergies. His allergy is noted on our reservation so when the hostess comes to our table, he/she will take our drink order and send the chef right over to talk to us. The chef will go over his allergies, what he can and can’t have and sometimes they even make him a special platter like this one from Ohana. He was so excited to his own platter of waffles and bacon made especially for him.
This is one of many reasons we love Disney. They make traveling with a food allergic child more bearable. Now having access to EpiPens right in the parks and on the cruise ships is just one more reason this food allergy mama loves Disney!
Now Disney Parks and Cruises will have:
- Nurses trained to adminsters EpiPen Auto-Injectors during First Aid Station operating hours to assist guests experiences a severe allergic reaction.
- Disney’s guide maps will now include an EpiPen Auto-Injector symbol and new signage at First Aid Stations throughout the parks
- Updated signage in the parks highlighting EpiPen® locations
I’ll still carry my EpiPens® with me at all times, but just knowing there is this option is so comforting.
