With Memorial Day Weekend marking the unofficial start of summer there will be plenty of beach days and fun in the sun in our future. My family loves to spend time outdoors and that means lots of time in the sun. Protecting our skin, especially the little ones and their delicate skin from the sun is a top priority for me and I don’t let them outside without their sunscreen on. This summer we’re choosing skin health. Since we did a little entertaining over the weekend, I wanted to make sure everyone protected their skin while enjoying fun in the sun so I supplied plenty of sunscreen for everyone to use.
Teaching kids good habits starts with having good habits yourself. I don’t know about you but my kids, especially my daughter, mimic everything I do. If I’m eating something, she wants to eat it. If I put my shoes on, she grabs her shoes to put on. So I’m incredibly mindful of what I do in front of her. It’s been a great way for me to begin teaching her healthy habits. I think twice before I grab junk food to eat. Instead I’ll grab some fruit or something healthier since most likely she’ll be right there on my lap eating it with me. I’m not the biggest fan of drinking water but I’ve been making an effort to drink more lately. Now my mini me wants water to drink something just a few months ago she would spit out. So naturally when she saw me applying my sunscreen this weekend, she wanted to do the same. She’s learning from a young age that skin health is important.
We spent Memorial Day with family and a picnic at our house. We opened the pool and everyone couldn’t wait to go swimming, I’ve noticed that the one thing everyone usually forgets to bring to the picnics is sunscreen so this time I had them covered. I set out a small bucket filled with my favorite Neutrogena® sunscreen along with some towels. This was everyone had access to an assortment of sunscreen to keep their skin protected and it made re-applying easy. The small bucket is perfect to keep under my bathroom sink so I can grab it for every picnic and I don’t have to hunt down the bottles of sunscreen.
Since my entire family (and extended family) is fair skinned, I know first hand how important it is to use sunblock and one that works. Over the years, I’ve tried plenty with only a few making my list of ones I’ll use. Neutrogena® is always at the top of my list. From their baby sunscreen line to the sport collection that my husband loves. There is a sunscreen perfect for every member of the family.
The Neutrogena® Wet Skin was perfect for the older kids who forgot to put their sunblock on and jumped right in the pool. It’s specially designed to adhere to wet skin and sprays on easily.
My husband prefers the sport collection and so did most of the guys at the picnic.
My personal favorite is the Neutrogena® UltraSheer collection. It’s designed to absorb excess oils in your skin and always goes on smooth. My skin never feels greasy or looks white.
For me, sun protection is an everyday thing. Anytime I go out in the sun I protect my skin. The Neutrogena® UltraSheer Sunscreen Stick is perfect to keep in my bag. It’s water and sweat resistant and the stick applicator makes applying it so easy. I don’t have to worry about getting it all over my hands.
Setting a good example for my kids and family is important. Every picnic and party from now on will have our sunblock basket out so all my guests and family can choose skin health this summer.
