This post was brought to you in partnership with Amazon Prime and If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie, all thoughts are my own.
I’ve been in the Christmas spirit since the day after Halloween. Usually I wait until the day after Thanksgiving to put everything up but this year I just couldn’t wait. I have the kids decked out in their holiday shirts (yup I’m that mom), most of our holiday decorations are up except for our tree because I think I’m going with a live Christmas Tree this year and we’ve been knee deep in holiday books and shows. This week Amazon Studios is turning one of our favorite books into a holiday special. If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie debuts on Friday, November 25th. Since we’re all about baking over here, we cannot wait to tune in and to celebrate we made one of or favorite sugar cookie recipes to share with you.
We love cooking together as a family. Over the years, we’ve created priceless family memories in the kitchen.
My oldest has been baking with me since he was able to walk and today is quite the little chef and of course my two year old is right there in the mix learning her way around. Or I should say eating her way around since she’d much rather eat what we’re making than cook.
To get ready for the show we decided to have a little fun in the kitchen and bake up some of our favorite cookies – sugar cookies. These are great for kids of all ages to make since older kids can help measure of the ingredients and mix everything together while the younger ones can cut out shapes, decorate or just eat them.
ABOUT IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A CHRISTMAS COOKIE
If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie is an endearing animated holiday special based on the classic If You Give a Mouse a Cookie book series written by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond. In the special, it’s holiday time and in Mouse’s house that means Christmas cookies (including a special one for Santa, of course!), caroling with friends…and one nearly-destroyed holiday pageant. Can Mouse and his animal friends save the show without getting utterly distracted along the way? It’s a wild ride as Mouse and his friends reinforce for young viewers the friendship and caring that’s at the heart of the holiday season. Like the books, If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie special is centered on an “if… then” narrative structure that teaches cause and effect and encourages creativity among children.
The special is written and produced by Ken Scarborough (Doug, Curious George, Martha Speaks, Arthur, Saturday Night Live) and stars Mason Mahay (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie), Roger Craig Smith (Avengers Assemble, Wreck-It Ralph), Jessica DiCiccio (Over the Hedge), Jeff Bennett (Futurama), and Lara Jill Miller (The Loud House, Henry Hugglemonster, Doc McStuffins).
If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie also features an original song, “Christmas Cookie Song,” by Lisa Loeb, available exclusively on Amazon Music to download and stream November 25.
My kids love making these cookies in all different shapes and designs for the holidays for family and friends. Kick off the holidays with If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie on November 25th and bake up some fun with your little ones.
