This post is brought to you in partnership with My Knight and Me. All opinions are my own.
I’m super excited to share with you the cutest new show – My Knight and Me. Brought to you by TeamTO, My Knight and Me airs weekends at 12pm (ET/PT) on the Cartoon Network. On My Knight and Me (perfect for kids ages 6-10) kids can follow the quests of a colorful and charismatic trio of knights in shining armor: loyal, street-smart Jimmy the Squire; daring and determined Cat the Princess; and bold and courageous Henri of Orange, Jimmy’s dad and a charmingly inept, yet passionately chivalrous knight who might not be the most efficient protector of the realm – but sure is the funniest! Together, the knightly group sets out from the Kingdom of Epic to save the day and brighten the Dark Ages! To celebrate this fun new show, we created our very own personalized knight shields.
The series models close family ties (Jimmy thinks his dad is the best!), emphasizes the importance of teamwork (together, Jimmy, Cat and Henri can overcome any challenge that comes their way!) and underscores the importance of using strategy over might to solve problems (Jimmy is the man with a plan!). My Knight and Me also features clever anachronisms (like Smart-Mirrors that resemble today’s iPhones, set in the Middle Ages), which add to the uniqueness of the show.
The kids loved getting creative making their personalized shields and had a blast watching the show with them.
The best part is how easy they are to make. With just a few supplies, your kids can get creative and make their own personalized knight shields to play with while they watch the show!
SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED:
- Foam Board
- Colored duct tape
- Scissors or knife to cut the shield (make sure an adult does this party)
- Markers/crayons to decorate the board
- Sequins, pom-poms or any other decorative pieces
Ry went with a cool red and black theme for his shield, while Evie’s was trimmed in her favorite color pink and even a few sparkles.
Step 1: Trace the design of the shield onto the foam board. Using really sharp scissors and a cutting knife, cut out the shield.
Step 2: Using the duct tape measure out two handles about 5 inches long and attach them together sticky side down. Repeat. You’ll need two handles for each shield you make.
Step 3: Attach the handles to the back of the shield using more duct tape.
Step 4 : Cover your shield in the colored duct tape or let your kids color their own creation
That’s it! Super easy to make and the kids will have a blast playing with them.
Be sure to tune into My Knight and Me weekends at 12pm (ET/PT) on the Cartoon Network.
