As we get closer to National Hispanic Heritage Month, I’ve been busy planning activities that I can incorporate into our homeschool lesson plans this year, as well as some other delicious treats. National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15, and celebrates the histories and cultures of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. I’m excited to incorporate this National Hispanic Heritage Month into not only our schooling but in the kitchen as well. Today, I’ve partnered with Nabisco to share this delicious Dulce de Leche Squares recipe.
These little treats are full of flavor and are perfect for a merienda (a late afternoon snack).
Actually they’re great for anytime of day, parties and more. Just make a batch ahead of time and serve once guests arrive. They look decadent and taste delicious.
I took my inspiration for these from this Dulce de Leche Peanut Butter Topper Recipe and changed it up a bit. In place of the bananas, I used strawberries and dipped ours in chocolate for a yummy treat. These are one of the easiest treats I’ve ever made and they taste amazing. The combination of peanut butter and whipped topping combined with the dulce de leche is amazing.
The mixing is the hard part. Once that’s done, all you have to do is assemble them, dip them in chocolate and pop them in the fridge or freeze until the chocolate hardens.
Nabisco Honey Maid Graham Crackers are a staple in my kitchen. Both of my kids love eating them plain or with fresh fruit and a variety of other toppings depending on their mood. Let’s not forget about s’mores. There’s always a box or two in my pantry.
- 6 Nabisco Honey Maid Graham Crackers (halved to make 12)
- 1 tbsp. peanut butter
- ½ whipped topping
- ½ cup dulce de leche
- 2 tbsp. dulce de leche for drizzle
- 1 bag of chocolate candy wafers
- 6-8 strawberries sliced
- Melt candy wafers according to package and set aside
- Mix peanut butter and whipped topping together and set aside.
- Spread dulce de leche on graham cracker
- Top with a scoop of the peanut butter whipped topping
- Place 2-3 sliced strawberries on top
- Top with another graham cracker
- Dip in melted chocolate
- Drizzle with dulce de leche
- Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to let candy harden
