One of our favorite ways to wind down after a busy week is to relax at home together for a family movie night. We all take turns picking out the newest release or our favorite family friendly title, I’ll whip up a fun snack or even an all out themed dinner depending on how busy our week was and how much time I have. Then we’ll all sit down and just spend some quality time together as a family. It’s actually one of my favorite things to do. We’ve been doing this since my son was a little boy and now that he’s 12, I’m quickly reminded how fast the time goes by. It makes me appreciate these little moments even more. For our latest family movie night, we decided on Finding Dory.
Since we were getting ready to head to Disney in a few short days, it was only fitting we watched some of our favorite Disney movies.
The one thing I like about family movie nights is that they can be as simple or as extravagant as we want. Some nights, I’ll go all out and throw a big party and others, it’s just a matter of spending time together with a nice, big bowl of popcorn.
Since we were knee-deep in packing for our trip, I went simple with this one. I still wanted it to be fun and for the kids to start getting excited for our trip, I made this delicious Finding Dory popcorn.
It’s a little sweet and a little salty but just perfect together.
I served it up in these cute Finding Dory cups I found and the kids loved every bite.
You’ll need a few things like your favorite popcorn, dark blue candy melts, yellow and blue candy pieces, Dory candies, Finding Dory cups from your local party store and plenty of Kleenex® – Finding Dory for cleaning up those little hands.
I stay stocked up by buying my Kleenex at BJ’s . Kleenex tissues are soft, strong and absorbent perfect for messy faces and hands while eating and drinking. The tissues are durable with 2-ply thickness and are absorbent to lock in moistures.
I always keep plenty of boxes on hand for nights like this and for sniffles, sneezes and even when I’m doing my makeup. For our movie night, the Kleenex® – Finding Dory Tissue Box Designs were the perfect fit.
Now to make the popcorn! Grab a tray and line it with some wax paper. Cover with your popcorn.
Melt your blue candy melts (follow directions on the package) and drizzle over the popcorn.
Sprinkle the blue and yellow candy pieces on top.
Place the Dory candy pieces randomly on top making sure to stick them to the chocolate so when it hardens, it’ll stick to the popcorn.
Let the candy harden. to speed up the process, I place the tray in the fridge for a few minutes. Once it’s hardened, break into pieces and place in the cup.
Now grab your movie and create some fun family memories!
