These last few days have been HOT here in Jersey. I’m talking oppressive hot. Stay in your house and set the air conditioning to the coldest setting hot. I guess that’s August for you and I’m sure when we’re snowed in and freezing I’ll be wishing for this weather again but lately it’s been too hot! As much as I would have loved to stay home, hidden away in the air conditioning, I made plans weeks ago to get together with some friends for an afternoon of fun this past weekend. The last thing I wanted was for anyone to get dehydrated. Which, in this heat, can happen pretty quick! So I created this easy DIY hydration station that can we can easily take with us on the go.
We made plans to get together at a local park for a morning of fishing and a picnic followed by an afternoon of swimming at our house. We all assigned ourselves something to bring and I was in charge of drinks and paper goods.
To bring everything to the park, I created this DIY hydration station. I loved the color of this cooler when I saw it and honestly just needed a reason to buy it. It matched my deck perfectly and I knew I just needed it. But I wanted it to hold other things we might need for the day or another trip we might be heading out on. So I picked up a white container with a lid that fits snugly inside.
I can keep sandwiches, snacks or fruit or anything else we might need on our family adventures. For this excursion, I used it told hold cups, plates and napkins. It’s also great to hold snacks, sandwiches, fruits or anything else I might not was loose in the cooler with the drinks. I can keep the smaller things contained.
Once the cooler was filled with ice and plenty of vitaminwater for our picnic, I placed the smaller tote on top.
It fits snug inside the cooler without touching the bottom so it keeps everything handy and dry.
I picked several 20-pack 20 oz. cases of vitaminwater at Sam’s Club (you can find it on the beverage aisle) so we stayed hydrated and didn’t have to worry about running out.
I drink a lot of vitaminwater, a nutrient enhanced water beverage and I love picking up the 20 pack for the variety of flavors. My husband even takes these to work with him when I pack his lunch so it’s easier for me to pick up the 20 pack at Sam’s Club so I’m prepared for picnics and our lunches throughout the week.
The great thing about this kit is that it can go anywhere with you. Keep it home on the deck for a girls night in, a beach day with friends or just a day at the park like us. Any way you use it, the extra container inside will keep your paper goods and/or food you don’t want getting wet dry and cool. Plus everything is in one handy, portable place. Our picnic at the park was a hit and once we arrived back at my house for some swimming, all I had to do was grab the cooler and bring it out to the deck.
Drinks were handy for everyone right at our fingertips and the best part we can easily move it around with us.
