One Washington Circle Hotel hosted us during our stay and provided accommodations and dining for our trip. All opinions are my own.
With so many family-friendly things to do and see, Washington D.C. is a great place to visit with the family. When it’s time to figure out where to stay, look no further than One Washington Circle Hotel.
Our latest road trip took us down to Washington D.C. Despite only living 3 hours away, this was the first time I’ve been back to the city since I was in middle school on a school trip. While it’s a lot different from what I remember, after only a few minutes in the city I knew we were going to have an amazing trip. During our stay, we stayed at the One Washington Circle Hotel. Everything about the hotel was perfect. The staff, accommodations and hotel’s location were everything we needed on our first family trip to Washington.
The minute you walk into One Washington Circle Hotel and you’re immediately greeted by friendly staff who are ready to help you make the most of every minute of your trip.
The lobby is just as warm and inviting as the employees. There are comfy places to sit and relax while you wait for your car or your Uber. Or grab a bike and enjoy a bike ride around the city.
IT’S SO SUITE
We stayed in the king suite during our stay and it was perfect for our family. Traveling with a toddler and a teen means the bigger the room the better. The kids like having space to move around without feeling cramped with one another. The master bedroom had a king size bed (with amazingly comfortable pillows), a dresser, tv, large closet and sitting area with a chair.
The living area was a great place for all of us to sit and relax while we planned out our city adventure.
The sofa turned into a bed for my teen at night so he felt like he had privacy and his own place to sleep and watch tv without keeping his sister awake. Or you know……have a pillow fight with your sister.
Having a dining room area and kitchen really made our stay feel like home. We arrived on a Friday and later than we anticipated. We explored the hotel for a bit, caught our breath and headed down to The Lincoln Memorial (about a 15 minute walk away) but by the time we got back it was late. We needed to eat dinner and didn’t want to trek all around the city to find a place with two tired and hungry kids. On our way out, the front desk told us about a Whole Foods grocery store right around the corner so on our walk back, we stopped in ordered a fresh pizza and took it back to the room with us. It was nice having a spot to sit down and eat a meal.
One touch that blew me away was the thoughtfulness of the staff. When we checked into our room, they had this wonderful tray of goodies waiting for us. Traveling with a child with a life-threatening food allergy means that most of the time when treats are left for us, he can never enjoy them. So when I saw that they left him peanut-free cookies, I may have shed a little tear. The look on his face when he saw they actually thought of his allergy and left him special snacks totally made his day.

STOCK THE FRIDGE
The hotel also offers a Stock the Fridge program where you can place an order either before your arrival or once you arrive for things like milk, fruit, snacks and more. Your order will be delivered right to your room and stocked in your fridge. When you get back to the room from a day exploring, it’s nice to able to grab a drink and snack from the fridge without having to wait for room service or taking time out of your travel schedule to grab groceries.
Whenever we travel, we usually have to make a grocery run to get milk for the kids and other things so it was nice for once not to have to do that and have someone else do it for us.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Let’s talk about the location. One Washington Circle is conveniently located in Washington, D.C.’s West End neighborhood. The hotel offers guests a prime location right in the center of everything the city has to offer. We were right in the middle of all the action and within walking distance to most of the area’s attractions.
We enjoyed walking to The White House and the Lincoln Memorial. Both were only about a 15-minute walk away and the walk gave us a chance to really appreciate city life.
Since parking isn’t an issue at the National Zoo, we drove over there and enjoyed a scenic drive around the city. Or you could just Uber it if you don’t have a car with you. For everything else, we took the Metro. The station was located right across the street from the hotel and took us downtown to the Smithsonian in minutes.
I don’t think we could have asked for a better location on this trip. We were right by all the attractions we wanted to see. The hotel was amazing and
DINING
Back at the hotel, we enjoyed breakfast at Circle Bistro. I cannot recommend eating here enough. The staff went above and beyond to make sure my kids were happy with their breakfast, they interacted with them, talked to them and made sure we all had a wonderful dining experience. Let me not forget about the food. It was delicious. All of it. It was the perfect way to start our day.

Hello, this hotel was bought by George Washington University. It will be temporarily used as student housing from mid-2020 until their campus dorms are renovated (about a year or so). Afterwards they will improve and renovate the hotel and reopen in, I think, 2022. As someone who will be moving into these rooms during that time I appreciate the review with pics and vids! Thank you.

My sister lives in Maryland, not far from DC. I’d love to go back to visit her and show my kids more of the capital. This looks like a great choice for families.

Hotel beds always look like feathers from heaven. It's pretty cool that there is a pullout couch too.
