Thank you to Mazda for loaning us the 2017 Mazda6 Grand Touring for the week.
Practical and stylish, the 2017 Mazda6 Grand Touring does not disappoint.
If you can’t tell from all my posts, I love cars. So each time a new vehicle pulls up in front of my house for a test drive, I get a little giddy. There’s just something about jumping in the car for a ride that I find relaxing and I’ve always been that way. Usually I prefer nice open road as sitting in traffic isn’t really my thing but the kind of car your in can really make or break that experience. Thankfully we didn’t get stuck in any crazy traffic anywhere but since the weather was absolutely gorgeous for March, we did head out as soon as this car was dropped off. It was a gorgeous day and what better to put the 2017 Mazda6 Grand Touring to the test than a little road trip.
We didn’t have anything official planned during this week scene we were just getting home from our Pocono Mountain staycation. Instead we had a few days trips planned and our first took us up to Liberty State Park. Right off the New Jersey Turnpike, Liberty State Park has phenomenal views of New York City and the Statue of Liberty and it’s even a great little fishing spot (or so I’ve been told – I’ll keep you posted on that once we try it out later this Spring). Plus it made a great backdrop for some photos. I even had a few people stop to check out the car when I was taking my photos. We all agreed – the looks were fierce for a sedan.
Some notably features SKYACTIV-Vehicle Dynamics with G-Vectoring Control. “This new technology helps achieve a smoother, less fatiguing drive for you and your passengers. When cornering, the system works seamlessly by adjusting power delivery, shifting vehicle weight on initial turn-in and throughout the corner. The effect is subtle, but how you feel after a great drive isn’t.” The car comes with the SKYACTIV-G 2.5L DOHC 4-CYL Engine offering 184 hp.
This SKYACTIV® Technology makes driving even better by enhancing driving dynamics all while reducing overall fuel consumption leaving you with an EPA-estimated 35 highway MPG. The 2017 Mazda6 Grand Touring combines safety and practicality with stylish looks. It’s no wonder it received a 5-star safety rating and was a 2016 IIHS Top Safety Pick (when equipped with available Smart City Brake Support8).
Some notable safety features include Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist and a Lane Departure Warning.
It comes equipped with a traffic sign recognition system that uses strategically mounted cameras to show you the areas traffic signs. I noticed it right away on the Active Driving Display.
Music lovers will appreciate the BOSE® 11-speaker surround sound system.
The optional leather seats are simply stunning in the Parchment Nappa Leather and have a sporty look and feel all while providing the utmost comfort. They were some of the most comfortable seats I’ve sat in.
With a starting price of around $30,000 the Mazda6 packs a lot of bang for your buck. The vehicle we tested with the premium package had a price tag of $34,630. Overall not a bad price for a great family sedan. Living here in the Northeast and these cold winter months, I highly recommend the optional premium package just for the headed rear-seats and steering wheel. Once the nice days were over and the cold came roaring back we all appreciated these options, especially my tween who’s not used to heated rear seats.
I can’t say enough good things about the 2017 Mazda6 Grand Touring. We were really disappointed when this car left. Driving was fun and we looked for reasons to run errands or just go for a ride. If we were in the market for a family sedan, this would be at the top of my list. The five passenger seating offers plenty of room in the backseat and it comfortably holds a rear-facing or forward-facing car seat (we tried both), with plenty of space for the other passengers in the back. There’s plenty of storage space in the trunk for groceries, sporting equipment and luggage for your next road trip. The upgrades made on this years model in comfort and safety really shine through.
