While it may officially be Spring, the weather here in New Jersey still hasn’t got the memo yet. Take for instance the day this gorgeous 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Turbo Diesel was dropped off. It was almost 60 degrees out and we promptly loaded the kids in this sharp look crossover and headed to the park to enjoy the gorgeous weather. It was short lived though. A few days later, snow and lots of it hit our area. Almost a foot to be exact. It rare for me to get to test out these vehicles in both nice weather and snowy conditions so this was a bit of a treat.
I can attest to how well the vehicle handles in the snow since I had to venture out in it a least a little. Now let’s learn a little about why we enjoyed this vehicle so much.
One of my favorite features was the Surround Vision, where you get a virtual bird’s-eye view of the vehicle on the available 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen. The system includes four cameras – the standard rear vision camera, a forward-looking camera in the front grille and one under each side mirror of the vehicle so you can see everything around you.
The Equinox is packed with technology including Apple CarPlay.TM† Making it easy to link your iPhone® to access your iMessages, Apple Music, select apps and more — right through the color touch-screen Chevrolet MyLink† display. There’s even a 4G LTE built in hot spot giving you and your passengers the ability to connect up to seven devices to the Internet via available Wi-Fi. Another great road trip feature.
Inside the Equinox, you’ll find plenty of room for your groceries, sports equipment and travel necessities making it a great vehicle for a road trip. If you need to haul something large, the 60/40 split-folding rear seats fold flat to create a whopping 63.5 cu. ft. of cargo space.
The model Equinox we test drove was the 1.6L Turbo Diesel model. This model offers EPA-estimated 39 MPG on the highway. This engine is not only efficient but quiet too.
The 2018 Equinox is the perfect mix of style and function. The exterior has been completely redesigned from front to back. Making it an eye-catching vehicle to hit the road in.
The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has a starting price of $23,580 and the model we tested comes in at $35,550.
