Hi and welcome to A New Dawnn where every day is a new adventure! Literally. When you have a toddler and teenager at home, life is one big crazy adventure but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I live in suburbs of New Jersey. Smack dab in the middle of Philadelphia and New York City so I get to enjoy the best of both worlds. I’m married to the love of my life and we have two kids – a toddler and a teenager – that keep us on our toes.
A self proclaimed car chic, my husband and I even met over our mutual love of Camaros. Here, you’ll find plenty of car care tips and tricks and our Road Trip Diaries series where we share our take on the different cars and trucks we drive all over the U.S. on our road trips. We even recently bought back the 1987 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z that initially brought us together. We’ll soon begin the major project of restoring the car and hopefully I’ll be featuring some of that on here too!
We love to travel and I believe that some of our greatest memories are made through exploring the world around us. A few years ago I made the decision to begin homeschooling my oldest and now my daughter. This allows us to take our love of travel and combine it with hands-on learning experiences for all of us. I love introducing my kids to the beautiful world around them and seeing the world through their eyes is priceless.
I hope to inspire other parents to pursue their love of travel and traveling with their family by helping them find the perfect vacation spot to create family memories through travel that will last a lifetime.
Traveling, whether it’s a weekend road trip Massachusetts or a staycation right here in Philadelphia, allows us to get away from the hustle and bustle of our crazy work schedules and what seems like never ending activities and to-do lists. It lets us create memories with the kids and unwind, if only for a few days.
A few years ago, I started a new tradition – 12 months of travel. I made it a priority for us to getaway together once a month, every month. For the last two years, we’ve stuck to that and created some priceless memories along the way.
Some months we made it and others, well we are traveling with kids so some months didn’t work out as we hoped due to colds or other things but for the most part, we’ve planned a getaway every month fo the last two years or so.
You’d be surprised at just how much you can get done in just 3 days. In fact, I’ve found that for most destinations, 3 days is the perfect amount of time!
Other trips call for more time and we plan those a few times a year too. Take for instance a cruise. We’ve loved all the cruises we’ve been on so far but when it comes to cruising, the longer the better. With 3 and 4 day cruises, I found that we were just starting to get the hang of the ship and it was time to get off. So if you’re planning a cruise, my best advice is go for at least 5 days so you can truly experience everything the cruise has to offer.
We’ve experienced new things, saw things we never imagined and created memories that we’ll all treasure for the rest of our lives.
I can’t wait to continue this 12 Months of Travel into 2019 with some amazing destinations all over the U.S. and wherever calls us.
Thanks for joining me on this wild ride!
