Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I have some great kid friendly dinner ideas the whole family can enjoy. I wanted to plan a fun Valentine’s Day dinner for both my guys. That means it will have to be kid friendly. So I thought I’d made chicken tender skewers with heart shaped french fries. I can’t go wrong with chicken tenders. Everyone in my house loves them, so I know dinner will be a hit!

Chicken tenders are a staple in my house. On busy nights when I don’t have time to cook a big dinner, I know I can throw some chicken tenders in the oven, add a veggie or two and dinner is set.  So I headed out to my local Walmart to pick up everything I needed to plan my Valentine’s Day dinner. I found the Tyson Original Batter Dipped Tenders on the frozen food aisle. They were easy to find, almost as if they were waiting for me to come pick them up.

Dinner prep was super easy. I simply heated up my oven and popped the tenders in. That’s why they’re so great for busy nights, it can’t get much easier.

Chicken tenders weren’t going to be enough. I need something else. I wanted something that goes great with chicken tenders and something my whole family would love. French fries were the answer. They go great with chicken tenders and they’re kid-friendly. So while the oven was pre-heating I made some heart shaped french fries. I found the small heart shaped cookie cutter in Walmart’s Valentine’s Day section and it was the perfect size. This french fry recipe was really easy and nothing beats homemade french fries.

To make the fries you’ll need the following:

  • Small heart shaped cookie cutter
  • Potatoes (washed)
  • 1/4 tsp. Olive Oil
  • Dash of salt

Step 1: Slice the potato(s) into 1/4 in. thick slices

Step 2: Use cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes

Step 3: Toss with 1/4 tsp. of olive oil & dash of salt

Step 4: Cook in oven at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes (oven times will vary so keep an eye on     them)

They were easy to make and a big hit!

Knowing I would need a dipping station to go with my chicken tender skewers, I made sure to grab our favorite sauces while I was out shopping. Homemade or store bought sauces would work great for this recipe. Since everyone in my house likes something different, I had honey-mustard, barbecue and ranch for my dipping station.
My son had fun dipping the skewers into the different flavors and trying to make his own flavor combinations.
They’re even great to make Mini Chicken Tender Sliders. I love sliders, so that’s how I ate mine. I added two tenders and a piece of cheese to a roll and had a yummy chicken sandwich.

AHH! I LOVE the heart shaped fries! (I'm a girl who still likes to play with her food, so any food in fun shapes is right up my ally! lol) Such a cute idea to put the tenders on skewers! #client
