This holiday season, I’m taking the less is more approach with my kids. At one point I was that mom who went overboard on Christmas. Ever since I had my daughter, I’ve re-evaluated my approach to presents and how we do gifting. Now don’t get me wrong, they still plenty of gifts but I don’t just buy to buy. I put much more thought into the gifts and I want things that they will actually use and enjoy. I loosely follow the want – need – read – wear approach and make sure that those are at least covered then we do some of the toys and other things they want as well. I’m also big on gifting experiences. The memories from those experiences, places, and trips will last much longer than some of the toys they’ll only play with for a short while. So if you’re looking for some unique Kidspiration for some last minute holiday gifts, check out some of these ideas.
This gift box was filled with a great assortment of gifts for kids of all ages and I really loved these products. So let’s me introduce you to some of my favorite gift ideas.

My kids are a little obsessed with Magnaflex right now. The colorful, bendable, connectable, magnetic strips are great for creating all sorts of projects like animals, vehicles, wearable accessories and more. I loved that it encouraged my older son to get creative and my daughter to work on her hand-eye coordination. This is one construction toys that I think all kids will enjoy. Following the want – need – wear – read gift schedule new books are always on my shopping list. In fact, there’s always a few for each child under the tree each year. Sometimes my oldest and I will read them together and one that I’m looking forward to reading with him is The Wonderling. We just started reading the magical middle-grade debut from New York Times best-selling author Mira Bartók, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite. If your kids love books about friendship, adventure and fantasy visit www.candlewick.com to save 25% off and free shipping with code CANDLEWICK.
Growing up one of my favorite candies were PEZ. I loved collecting the different character dispensers. Every time I see one, I smile remembering my grandparents treating me to one when we went to the store. Now I make sure to include them in my kids’ stockings every Christmas. But now they’re even more fun with mini PEZ dispensers in a real Christmas ornament.
Each ornament comes with two PEZ candy refills ready to hang on the tree. I can’t wait to pick up a few more of these to decorate the tree on Christmas morning. Find your own PEZ gifts here.
Every year, I make giving back a priority especially during the holidays. This year, my kids are learning about giving back with a Petlanthropy Donation Gift Card. Recipients can find animal shelters and projects they care about on www.petlanthropy.org and apply the value of their gift card to any local animal shelter project or donation page. Purchase, share and gift Petlanthropy Donation Gift Cards and receive a special gift.
