This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Boscov’s. All fashionable opinions are my own.
When my teen was younger, we’d pick a date to go back to school shopping and I’d make a big event out of it. We’d pick a day, head out early, do some shopping, grab lunch and finish up shopping and maybe even squeeze in a movie or trip to a local amsuement party. It was an annual mommy and me date. Now that he’s gotten older, shopping is not really his thing. He gladly goes along for my sake but it doesn’t top his list of things to do. So when it came time to do shopping this year, I knew he’d be at least a little interested since he’s pretty particular about his style, and he’d want to go to give his say so we picked a day and headed to our local Boscov’s to check out all the latest styles for back to school.
Gone are the days of shopping in the boys’ department, he’s officially a teenager so we headed to the young men’s department to do our shopping. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as bad as either one of us thought. We stuck to our list and made it through the day without either one of us shed a tear. Ok, well maybe only one of us shed a tear. I’m still coming to grips with the fact that I have a teen in the house, it feels like only yesterday he was starting kindergarten. All of the looks here are things he picked out on our shopping trip to Boscov’s. They had such a great selection of items that it made shopping a breeze.
Before we headed out, we went over a few things to make our shopping experience as smooth as possibly.
SET A BUDGET
Before you even set out on your shopping adventure, set a budget. Go over said budget with your teen before you leave the house so you both know what you have to work with. Clothing can get expensive, especially the older they get. Thankfully Boscov’s had plenty of great sales going on so we stayed well under budget on this trip.
GATHER SOME IDEAS
Let your teen rowse online sites like Boscovs.com to get ideas of what they like and what they might want to purchase. That will cut down your time wandering around the store if they know what they’re going for. Sale circulars or catalogs are another great way for your teen to browse the latest looks before you go. This is what we did. He spent time online and browing the sale ad to get an idea of what he wanted to look for before we got there.
MAKE A LIST
Before you head out, check and see what still fits and what doesn’t and use that as a starting point. You may find nothing fits and you need a bit of everything. Maybe they have a closet full of jeans and pants and they really need shirts. Whatever the case may be, take a quick peek before you start shopping. Then start a list of things you definitely want to pick up. It’ll make things easier once hit the store. He added new shirts, pants for fall, a few pairs of shorts, and a hoodie or two as things he wanted to get. Hewas able to get all of that and some other things like sweatpants and some fun graphic shirts too. All while staying under budget thanks to Boscov’s great prices. We also looked for pieces that could be worn with multipe outfits so he’d get extra wear out of them.
MAKE IT FUN
Since I left my toddler home with dad, it was just the two of us shopping for the day and I planned lunch at one of his favorite restaurants. Shopping works up quite an appetite and it was fun spending time just the two of us.
With our plan of attack in place, we set out to Boscov’s in the Moorestown Mall. We planned to arrive when they first opened but got there a little later. Since I’m all about him being independent, I let him browse around with his list, while I looked for deals to help him out.
He found plenty of great deals (pratically everything was on sale), tried it all on and checked out in about an hour! Not too bad for someone who’s not a fan of shopping. He picked out shirts, casual and dressy, pants, shorts and even a watch to tie his looks together.
We both had fun and I loved the great prices Boscovs.com had to offer. Mark your calendars for August 26th and head to your local Boscov’s for the all-store Back-to-School event where you’ll find great deals on looks for the whole family!
