We’ve been living in our house for almost seven years now and I’ve slowly begun the process of updating and re-decorating some of our rooms. When we moved in I was in love with this paint color called cup of cocoa. It was warm and inviting but I made the mistake of painting all of the rooms downstairs this color and I’m so over it right now. It was too dark of a color to paint an entire first floor but at the time, I loved it. Looking back there is a lot I would change but we were so excited to move in we just did things on impulse. Now that our tastes have evolved, I want to go more neutral on paint and play with colorful accessories.
After my kitchen makeover, I knew my next target was our half bath right off the kitchen. Picking out paint colors is not my area of expertise so I have to admit, I had a little help picking out the new color. While we were shopping the baby reached her arm over and grabbed a paint card. It just so happened to have the perfect color on it. I wanted a light, neutral color and the color Cappuccino Froth was what we picked. Since my bathroom vanity is black with a black marble top, a light color was just what this room needed.
Once it was painted l, I added a new shelf on the back wall that I could “accessorize”. While I’m still deciding on an accent color (I’m debating between a deep red like the flower and something more spring ish like a light seafoam green) I knew I wanted a basket to hold some extra toilet paper and Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths so they were handy for when we have company over.
Since we entertain a lot, this bathroom sees slot of traffic. Keeping it stocked with essentials is important but I want it too look cute at the same time.
I had this small basket laying around and knew it would be perfect but the color had to change. I grabbed a can of black spray paint and gave it a quick coat of paint to have it match the decor a bit better.
I placed a few packs of Cottonelle Wipes and an extra roll of toilet paper in it that way refills are handy should anything run out while a guest is in there.
Best part? I only spent about $35 on the whole re-do including new paint, the shelf and supplies. I love when I can get a whole new look for under $50! It’s really amazing what a little paint can do. It’s like a whole new room. While it still needs a few tweaks and some pops of color in places (I’ll do a full reveal when it’s done), I’m already so happy with the results.
If you’re bathroom is in need of a Spring makeover on a budget try these tips:
Update your paint color. Decide if you want to change the wall color or if you’re happy with it. If you’re happy with your current color keep reading for more ideas. If you want to change the color like me, first decide on your new colors then decide how much paint you’ll need. Since this was our half bath and it’s not that big, I was able use a quart of paint (with plenty left over) and it was under $10!
Add a shelf or two. Add a decorative shelf to the wall above your toilet or any other free wall and decorate it with some fun pieces. Maybe a cute flower or stack a few hand towels in your favorite accent colors. Plus it helps with storage in small spaces.
Update your linens. Update the towels and your bathroom rug for an instant pop or color. Plus these are easy to change out if you want something different for Spring and Fall.
Decorate with cute storage pieces. Add a basket (or DIY one like me) to hold extra essentials for your guests like an extra roll of toilet paper and Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths.
Cottonelle® Fresh Care Flushable Cleansing Clothes are so versatile and are great for things beyond bathroom use too. I like to take them on-the-go with us since I never know when a mess will appear. I keep a pack in my purse, truck and diaper bag. They’re great for cleaning sticky hands, wiping up spills and so much more. They’re alcohol-free and great for the entire family.
Since we use these a lot, I always buy them at Sam’s Club. We’ve been a member for years and always save so much buying the essentials we use all the time in bulk. If you’re not a member yet, you should give it a try.
Not only are the savings great but they have a great Pick-Up service for days you don’t have time to walk around and shop. There’s even the Sam’s Club Subscription service that automatically ships you you’re favorite products so you never run out.
You can find the Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths on the paper products aisle (near the toilet paper). Each box contains 11 packs in the cute new members-voted design.
