For the last several months my husband and I have been going back and forth on whether it’s time to sell our house and move or do we just stay where we’re at. We live in a great little town that’s close to just about everything but still has a country feel at the same time. We’ve been here for seven years and seven years ago this was the perfect house for us. Fast forward to 2016 and another baby and we’re beginning to outgrow our space. While we decide our next move, I’ve begun updating and organizing each room to prep for a sale or to just check things off my to-do list. Either way these are all things that needed to get done either way. I started my guest bathroom a few weeks ago and all that I really had left to do was organize the bathroom vanity.
I figure if I’m going to end up staying, I’m just checking off little projects off my t0-do list and if we end up moving, I’m sprucing things up for hopefully a quick sale.
A few weeks ago I gave my half bath a mini makeover. I painted the walls a lighter color, added a functional shelf to the wall and painted my bathroom vanity from a starting-to-look-worn cherry to black. Those few updates made me fall in love with the room all over again. Since it’s my half bath it tends to see a lot of traffic between picnics and visits with friends and family. So I want to make sure that room always looks it’s best and is fully stocked to make my guests fell at home.
Now that the major part of my mini makeover is done, all that was really left to do in there was some under sink organization. The bathroom is small and I wanted to make sure I really utilized the space for holding essentials like toilet paper and other things we need. I picked up some cute storage like this basket and I took care of this project in four easy steps.
- Clean Out the Area – The first thing I did was clean out everything stored in this cabinet and then I gave it a good wipe down.
- Eliminate the Clutter – I went through all the junk I’ve accumulated under there. This cabinet quickly became a giant junk drawer and I really need to make better use of the space especially since storage is one of the issues I struggle with in this house.
- Make the Most of Storage Space – Storage is one things this house really lacks so I need to make the best of every space. I picked up this cute basket to hold essentials and keep everything neat and tidy. I grabbed the bin to hold our essentials (like plenty of toilet paper) and a cute aqua utensil holder (that’s really what it is) to hold my curling iron, blow dryer and brush.
- Stock Up on Essentials – Since toilet paper is the one thing I never want to run out of especially when I have guests over, I make sure I am stocked up at all times. I picked up my Scott® 1100 Bath Tissue at BJ’s Wholesale Club. Each roll now has 1,100 long-lasting sheets. With 100 extra sheets per roll, that’s like getting 3 rolls free!
A simple little change like this made a world of difference. Now I never have to worry about running out of essentials and everything is neat and tidy for my guests.
