Every year when January rolls around I set these lofty fitness goals for myself that truthfully I have no chance at actually achieving. I practically set myself up for failure. Sure, it’s nice to dream big and I’m all for that, but when it comes to fitness and essentially changing my lifestyle, starting small is best for me. While it’s easy to say I’m going to join a gym cut out sugar and workout an hour a day is easy, the follow through is the hard part. When I set lofty goals I’m more likely to give up quicker. Setting beginner fitness goals is something that’s more my speed and gives me a better chance at actually sticking to them.
With that said, instead of setting big, lofty goals this year I started small. I wanted to set more attainable goals and things that I would have a better chance of actually reaching.
First I had to make a list of things that needed to change.
I started with my diet. I have a major sweet tooth and that is one of my biggest weaknesses.
DRINK MORE WATER
This may sound like a simple one but for someone who drinks coffee and/or Coke all day long, it’s a big one! I still start my day with coffee but then I fill up a big water bottle that I make myself drink all day long. Cutting out the soda and iced tea is a easy way to cut out some of excess sugar I consume.
My days are hectic. Between running a business and homeschooling my two kids, my time is spread thin. If I don’t meal plan, I end up ordering takeout or hitting the drive thru more times that I can count. Not only is it a waste of money but that much fast food isn’t good for any of us. Instead, on Sunday’s I sit down and plan out our meals for the week.
I’ll also use this time to make my meals for the week and plan out salads or healthier options to eat throughout the week so I can easily stick to my healthy eating plan.
EXERCISE AT HOME WITH GIXO
As much as I’d love to join a gym, it’s just not an option with my lifestyle right now. But that’s ok because I found the next best thing – Gixo! Gixo is a mission-driven fitness company. Their goal is to make great, live workouts accessible to everyone! Working out right from my living room doesn’t get any more accessible than that.
The Gixo app that lets me join into group fitness classes right from the comfort of my own home! WHAT?!
With just the push of a button, I can select the right class for me and join in right from my cell phone!
With Gixo, I have access to both live and on demand classes that I can take on my phone 24/7. It’s designed for busy schedules like mine with 15, 25 or 40-minute workout classes.
There’s cardio, strength training, yoga and pilates classes. along with stretching and mobility.
Now there’s no excuse for me not to fit a workout in. I can workout right at home, outside at my local park, at the gym and even when I travel right inside my hotel room.
The best part? Yes, it does better. There’s no equipment required so I don’t have to run out and buy anything. You’ll even get a text before your class starts as a reminder. Which is something I appreciate since the day can get away from me and I’ve been known to forget things like this.
Gixo’s live fitness classes taught by certified personal trainers who provide REAL-TIME feedback. The coaches can modify workouts with progressions and regressions based on your fitness level. Pre-recorded apps can’t do that.
It’s like having your own personal trainer right in your phone. Since the classes are live, it lets you build a relationship with your coach. Gixo is available for iOS and Android.
It’s also affordable! Memberships start at only $14.99/mo (when billed annually at $179.99/year) or $19.99/mo. That’s less than the cost of a single studio class!
Memberships include a 7-day free trial so you can try It out and see how you like it! Use code anewdawnn on the Gixo app to get a 7-day free trial and 20% off either a monthly or one-year subscription.
