Beauty and the Beast is one of those iconic movies that you can just watch over and over again. It’s hard to believe that we were first graced with this beloved classic, twenty five years ago. Now, here I am sharing one of my favorite movies from my childhood with my little princess. When Disney sent me a copy of the movie last week, I knew we needed to have a movie night right away so I could introduce her to all my favorite characters like Belle, Chip & Mrs. Potts. The Big Donut Recipe Inspired by Zootopia

Over the weekend we had a mini movie marathon at our house. We kicked off our movie fun with Zootopia, out on Blu-ray™ and DVD now. Last week my friends at Walt Disney Pictures sent us a copy of the movie and we couldn’t wait to watch it. I haven’t had a chance to see it yet but my son saw it and loved it. He was so excited when the DVD arrived. I knew I wanted to create a fun snack to go along with the movie. Of course we had our movie staples like pizza and popcorn ready but for dessert I wanted something fun. If you know my son, you’d know he loves donuts. He would eat them all day long if I’d let him. Even though I hadn’t see the movie, I saw enough clips to see “the big donut” featured several times. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, it’s basically a donut dipped in chocolate with sprinkle and “the Big Donut” written on top. An “Out of this World” Guardians of the Galaxy Movie Night

It is no secret that we are HUGE Marvel fans. So when new Marvel movies are released on DVD we pick them up for our home movie collection. My son loved Guardians of the Galaxy and couldn’t wait for the DVD release. Since he has a birthday coming up, I picked up some fun toys to go along with the movie for an early birthday movie night.

When I was at Walmart picking up the DVD, I made sure to grab some other things to make it a really fun night. Walmart’s DVD features include an exclusive Character-O sleeve (we picked Rocket Raccoon) along with a music zinepack, 64 page magazine with cast and crew interviews, exclusive behind the scenes photos and trivia PLUS a custom “cassette” laptop decal.
We are all about Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition right now. He loves playing with his favorite Marvel characters so I picked up Rocket Raccoon, Drax and Groot so we could have a little gaming fun after the movie. If you purchase any of these Disney Infinity 2.0 characters at Walmart you’ll receive a $5.00 gift card (ends 12/13)!   I even grabbed a few action figures and Nerf’s Star Lord Blaster to make sure it was an action packed evening!
Of course no movie night is complete without snacks. I love trying to come up with fun snacks that fit the theme of the movie we’re watching. So for this we made Rocket Raccoon Pizza, Gamora’s Galactic Cupcakes and Groot’s Galaxy Popcorn.
To make the pizza, I picked up a large frozen pizza, small frozen pizza for the ears, olives, pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. This is the fun part for kids. If they like helping in the kitchen like my son does, then they can do this part. My son covered the top half of the pizza with pepperoni slices, the bottom half with olives slices and used the cheese to make his eyes, nose and mouth. I used the small pizza to cut out ear shapes and attached them to the top of the pizza.

 

To make the popcorn you’ll need popcorn, sprinkles and some white chocolate. Simply melt the chocolate, drizzle on the popcorn and top with sprinkles. Give it all a good stir and let it sit for a few minutes while the chocolate hardens. Serve in popcorn containers or eat right from the bowl!
I made mini cupcakes for our movie night but any size will do. I made green cupcakes with purple icing. I went with box mix here to save some time and found purple icing so this was an easy snack to make. Mix cake mix according to box directions and add a few drops of food coloring to your mix until you get your desired color (this is about 5).  Bake and let cool. Pipe on icing and BOOM! Gamora’s Galactic Cupcakes!
Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray combo pack and toys would make a great gift item for anyone on your holiday list. You could put together a movie night gift basket plus so much more!
