Sitting high above the Boardwalk on the fifth floor of the Chelsea Tower, this stylish gastropub combines panoramic ocean views with elevated American cuisine, handcrafted cocktails, and one of the most inviting dining rooms in the resort.
During our recent adults-only getaway, Chelsea Five quickly became the standout dining experience of the trip. From the atmosphere and attentive service to the creative cocktails and beautifully prepared entrees, it was the kind of meal that leaves you planning your next visit before you’ve even paid the check.

The Atmosphere
Before the food even arrives, Chelsea Five makes a great first impression. From the stunning views to the contemporary seating. It’s welcoming from the minute you walk in.
Located on the fifth floor of the Chelsea Tower, the restaurant overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. Large windows flood the dining room with natural light during the day and create a beautiful backdrop for dinner as the sun begins to set.
The atmosphere feels polished without being pretentious. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary or simply treating yourself to a nice dinner during your vacation, Chelsea Five strikes a balance between upscale dining and relaxed comfort.
It was easily one of the most beautiful restaurants we visited during our stay at Tropicana.
What to Expect
Chelsea Five specializes in elevated American cuisine with an emphasis on fresh seafood, premium steaks, creative burgers, handcrafted cocktails, and seasonal ingredients. The menu changes periodically, giving returning guests something new to try while keeping many of the restaurant’s signature favorites.
One thing I appreciated most was that the restaurant never felt rushed. Our server allowed us plenty of time to enjoy each course, making dinner feel like part of the vacation rather than just another meal.
What We Ordered
We started our evening with cocktails before ordering several appetizers to share around the table.
For appetizers
If I had to recommend one single appetizer, I wouldn’t be able to. In fact, they all looked divine but we settled on the cheesesteak egg rolls, crab cakes and filet mignon sliders.
Each was cooked to perfection and mouthwatering in their own unique way. Even my husband, who is not a fan of seafood, devoured the crab cakes. Everything was superb.
But my favorite were the filet mignon sliders. If I could have got these as my main course, I would have. The filet mignon was tender, cooked to perfect and had me drooling just looking at them.
The Cocktails
One thing Chelsea Five does exceptionally well is cocktails.
Whether you’re ordering a classic Old Fashioned, a seasonal specialty cocktail, or a glass of wine with dinner, the drink menu is just as thoughtfully curated as the food.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail while overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this is one of my favorite spots inside Tropicana.
The Entrees
Now onto the main course. Trying to decide from their perfectly curated menu was just as hard as deciding on an appetizer.
My husband went with 14 oz. ribeye and I chose the meatloaf. Both were stellar choices.
The steak was cooked to perfection. He raved about it all night as one of the best steaks he’s ever had. And he eats a lot of steak. In fact, it’s his meal of choice when we go out so that’s saying a lot.
The meatloaf was equally as good. Each bite melted in my mouth paired with the butter potatoes. 100/10.
In fact we can’t wait to go back to enjoy these entrees again.
Dress Code at Chelsea Five
One of the questions I see most often is whether Chelsea Five has a dress code.
While there isn’t a strict formal dress code, I’d recommend smart casual attire. During our visit, most guests were dressed in nice jeans or slacks paired with collared shirts, dresses, blouses, or business-casual outfits. It’s a popular choice for celebrations and date nights, so many diners enjoy dressing up just a bit without feeling like they need formal wear. Reservations are recommended, especially for weekend evenings and sunset dining.
Do You Need Reservations to dine at Chelsea Five?
I highly recommend making reservations, especially if you’re planning to visit on a Friday or Saturday evening.
Chelsea Five is one of Tropicana’s most popular restaurants, and tables during prime dinner hours can fill quickly – particularly those with the best ocean views. Reservations can be made through Tropicana/Caesars before your trip. Walk-ins may be available depending on demand, but I wouldn’t count on it if this restaurant is high on your must-visit list.
Is Chelsea Five Expensive?
Chelsea Five isn’t the least expensive restaurant inside Tropicana, but I also wouldn’t call it overpriced.
Considering the quality of the food, attentive service, generous portions, beautiful atmosphere, and oceanfront location, I felt the overall value was excellent.
If you’re planning one special dinner during your Atlantic City getaway, this would absolutely be my recommendation.

Book your reservation about an hour before sunset if possible. Not only will you enjoy incredible views while you eat, but you’ll also have the chance to watch the Boardwalk transition from a busy beach destination into one of Atlantic City’s most vibrant evening scenes.

Absolutely. After dining at several restaurants throughout Tropicana Atlantic City, Chelsea Five remained in my top 3.
The combination of beautiful ocean views, welcoming atmosphere, excellent service, creative cocktails, and memorable food made it one of the highlights of our entire trip.
