Every year I say new year, new me and start off with great intentions to make it “my year’ and within a few weeks, I’m falling right back into the same old rut I found myself in the previous year. It’s not that I don’t want to stick to my resolutions, it’s just that I put too much pressure on myself to make too many changes all at once and it never works out for me. So this year, I took a simpler approach. I’m trying these 5 steps in order to meet my goals. One of those steps is this delicious Chocolate Banana Protein Smoothie. With a tasty step like this, it’ll be easier to stick to my goals this year.
SET A TIME TO WORK OUT
It’s no secret I don’t like to work out. In fact, most days I look for every reason why I can’t work out. This year, I dedicated 30 minutes of my morning routine to exercise. No excuses. With two kids at home, getting to a gym is a little hard for me; but, if I had my own work out equipment at home, I would have no excuse not to work out. Gold’s Gym makes a line of at-home work out equipment available at Walmart, so I picked up a few pieces perfect for working out at home like a giant exercise ball, a weighted medicine ball, and some weights. I picked up just the basics to get me started, but that’s all I need to get me started.
TRACK WHAT YOU EAT
Tracking my food and water intake has always been a huge help for me. It lets me see where I need improving on, when I ate a little too much ice cream, or if I didn’t drink enough water in a day. I picked up a small notebook that I can take with me everywhere so I can track my eating wherever I am. If you don’t know where there’s room for improvement, it’s hard to make them!
WATER WATER WATER
Drinking enough water throughout the day is important for any weight loss journey and for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I picked up a special water bottle just for me and I make sure to keep it full throughout the day. I even keep lemon juice ice cubes in the freezer at all times so I can add them to my water bottle for a little flavor in my water.
FUEL YOUR BODY
Eating right is another goal of mine. I’ve been meal planning and meal-prepping like a pro. For dinner, I make sure to have a well-balanced dinner of fish or chicken with plenty of vegetables. For lunch, I make a bunch of salads at the beginning of the week to keep in the fridge. This way, when I’m hungry, I can just grab one to eat. I don’t have to worry about cooking something when I’m already starving. For breakfast, I’ve been starting my day with a delicious protein smoothie. I love smoothies so this was easy for me. Right after my morning workout, I cool down with this Chocolate Banana Almond Butter Smoothie. Made with Six Star Triple Chocolate Whey Protein and MaraNatha Almond Butter, it’s a delicious way for my body to get the protein it needs after a work out and helps keep me full all morning long.
CHOCOLATE BANANA PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

FIND THE RIGHT SUPPLEMENTS
Taking a supplement can also help you meet your goals. One of my favorites right now is Hydroxycut Gummies. They’re perfect for helping me boost my weight loss.
The best part of all this is finding all these essentials at Walmart. I don’t have to drive all over town to get what I need. I can conveniently pick up what I need right at Walmart when I shop.
Walmart wants to make it easy for you to help meet your resolutions and goals this year by offering products like these, and they’ve even developed a site where you can find fitness tips and tricks, recipes ideas, and so much more. I love to drink a good smoothie. I have never added protein to them because I am scared that it will make it taste bitter. I like the tip about the lemon ice cubes for your water, I am going to try that.

I always like to keep some protein powder in the house for a quick smoothie! I freeze up some bananas and that way I don't even have to add ice.
