One of my favorite activities to do with the kids each year is to make our own Christmas tree ornaments. Each year it’s something different and we love to get hands-on and creative. This year, I added a tree to the kitchen. Since we spend a lot of time out there, I wanted it to feel festive too. So I added a slim tree with gold and silver decorations. The ornament set I bought (all unbreakable of course) had a lot of white, glitter ornaments. These were just begging to have something done to them so we created these DIY DIY Gold and Silver Polka Dot Christmas Ornaments.

Since Evie is still young, I like to keep the crafts simple enough for her to complete so she felt like she was a part of the fun. At three, painting can be a messy situation especially since she still hasn’t quite grasped the concept and wants to play more than anything else.
That’s when I found Kwikstix Tempera Paint sticks. These are a mom’s dream come true. The paint sticks are about the same size as a marker or thick crayon, so they’re easy to hold but are filled with tempera paint.
The paint dries is non-toxic, dries in 90 seconds and is washable so you don’t have to worry if the little ones color on their hands or each other.
These were perfect for her to personalize her own polka dot ornament. She caught on quickly and had fun with some help from her big brother.
Once they were dry, we hung them right on the tree.
I love how they came out and they tie in the gold and silver theme perfectly.
But we weren’t done there. The kids were having fun with the Kwik Stik Tempera Paint and still wanted to do more arts and crafts so we moved on to another fun project, personalized photo frames.
Every year, I give the grandparents a photo frame with our annual picture with Santa. This year we took basic white frames and decorated them in red and green for a more festive touch.
I’m definitely picking up more of these for their stocking this year. They’re great for all sorts of creative projects.
Kwik Stix Tempera paint literally takes the mess out of painting. You don’t need any cups, water, smocks or even brushes to create. You simply uncap, twist and paint. This is great, especially for the little ones. No spilling paint cups or water. They can easily hold the paint sticks in their hands while they create.
The paint sticks work on paper, canvas, posters and even wood. The vibrant colors are there to stay and they won’t fade or crack.

This looks like a perfect craft for kids to have fun with this holiday. I think homemade ornaments are the best ones anyway!
Looks like some great stocking stuffer ideas and I love that tree!
The gold and silver look great. I like that it’s easy enough for a child to be a part of and that you can customize any way you like.
This looks like such a fun craft for kids. I’ll have to try it with my nephews when we see them for Christmas.
Your tree looks beautiful!! What a great idea and we have a set of Kwik Stik on hand, I’m going to grab a few bulbs and have the kids create their own bulbs…..such a great crafty idea. Love the images!
My daughter would probably try to create a cat with this! She loves cats!
I would have them create a posterboard drawing of whatever they like to hang on their wall.
