Sundays around here are family day. It’s the one day a week that we try to really limit our plans and stay home to unwind. Just about every Sunday, my mom and step-dad come over for their weekly visit with the kids and that usually involves playing cars and watching the race if it’s a race day. Coming from a family of sports car lovers, it’s no wonder my kids love cars and even watching the races as much as the rest of the family. To make those lazy afternoons of playing with race cars even more fun, I made the littles a cute race car play mat. Now they can grab their little cars and race to their hearts content.
All you need to make your own is a few supplies and a little bit of time. Best of all it cost under $5 to make. This has to be one of my favorite crafts I’ve made recently. Seeing how much fun they have playing with their new racetrack play mat is priceless.
To make your own, here’s what you’ll need:
- Cheap mat (about $3)
- Black craft paint ($.50)
- White craft paint ($.50)
- Paintbrushes (I had these on hand already)
