If this year taught me anything, it’s been that strength comes in many forms. Strength can be physical, mental or even emotional. In February we enjoyed a trip to my favorite place, Disney World. While things didn’t spiral out of control just yet, it was on it’s way to that. After plenty of back and forth, I decided that we’d take the trip because we didn’t know what the future held. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d be where we are today.
Looking back, I’m so glad we took the trip. After all, “take the trip” is my motto. The fun was definitely short lived.
Upon getting home the world as I knew it came crashing down. Everything from travel to work to just about everything and I found myself struggling with my emotions.
Something I never struggled with before. I’m always a practical gal. Ready for anything that’s thrown my way.
Until I wasn’t.
I started binging on comfort food like cookies, chips and anything else that wasn’t good for me.
Then one day I woke up, looked at myself in the mirror and all the pounds I gained back and said no more.
It was then I took control of my life back.
I took a social media hiatus. Even today I’ve limited access to channels where negativity is spewed on a daily basis.
I started working out more. Especially walks around the block or my local park. Being outside in nature I found to be extremely therapeutic.
I overhauled my diet and cut out the junk. I don’t even buy the junk food anymore so I’m not tempted.
I started taking vitamins and supplements to make sure my body’s needs are being met.
Especially ones that might get overlooked like making sure I’m getting enough calcium.
If your body is not getting enough calcium it begins to take it from your bones, decreasing bone mineral density which can eventually lead to osteopenia and osteoporosis.
I knew calcium is an important part of our diet and it plays an important role in strengthening bones and teeth, as well as helping muscles (including the heart) and nerves function properly.
Since Calcium isn’t manufactured in the body, it must be introduced by outside sources like our diet or supplements.
The easiest way I’ve found to make sure my body is getting enough calcium is through Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews.
WHY VIACTIV CALCIUM SOFT CHEWS SHOULD BE PART OF YOUR SELF CARE ROUTINE
If you struggle with swallowing large pills like I do, then Viactiv is the way to go.
Each Viactiv soft chew contains 650 mg of calcium, 500 IU of vitamin D, and 40 mcg of vitamin K. Making it the perfect trifecta your body needs to help strengthen and protect your bones to help you stay strong at all stages of life.
Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews gives you the most calcium per piece to build strong bones vs. gummies and chews
Viactiv also contains two other critical vitamins – vitamin D and vitamin K.
Before calcium can do its job, it must be absorbed by your body – and that’s where vitamin D comes in. Vitamin D regulates calcium absorption in the body, maintains calcium and phosphate levels, and promotes bone growth. Viactiv has 500 IUs of vitamin D in every tasty chew!
Over the last 10 years, vitamin K has proven to play an important role in bone health. Vitamin K partners with vitamin D to boost calcium absorption, affect calcium balance and increase bone mineral density — helping your body absorb osteocalcin*, a protein that studies show may be essential for protecting bones from fractures. Viactiv has 40 mcg of vitamin K per chew!
Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews are available in either delicious milk chocolate or caramel flavors and are individually wrapped so you can easily take them on-the-go just like I did on our road trip to the White Mountains last week.
HOW TO FIND YOUR STRENGTH IN UNCERTAIN TIMES
The easiest way to find your own strength is to make YOU a priority. Start with making self care part of your daily routine.
Even for a few minutes a day. Wake up early before everyone else. Enjoy your cup of coffee outside and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Start small if it overwhelms you. Start with a way around the block and then progress from there. Anything to get your heart pumping will make you feel better overall
WATCH WHAT YOU EAT
The saying you are what you eat is true. Cut back on the not-so-healthy items and you’ll notice a difference in how you feel in no time. Resist reaching for the junk when you’ve had a stressful day. Find another outlet to release your stress.
KEEP A JOURNAL
Writing can be very therapeutic. Write down your fears, your dreams and your goals. Even if your goal is just to make it through the week. Writing things down can help you process your emotions.
DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY
Maybe you had a hobby you loved before it got brushed to the side because of family needs. Maybe you just like quiet time to read a book. Whatever it is schedule time for you and your needs.
MOST OF ALL, TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH
Take vitamins and supplements to help meet your body’s needs when diet isn’t enough.
In time, you find out you’re stronger than you think – emotionally and physically. Most of all, know you are doing the absolute best you can and we all have the strength within us to get through these times.
