Football season is a little over a month away and that means my house will be turning into game central. My hubby is a huge football fan and game time is party time around here. We have people over every weekend to watch the games. Even if his team isn’t playing, someone’s team is. This also means I need to be ready to feed a group of hungry guys, gals and kids sometimes on a moments notice. Thank goodness for Sam’s Club & Mars. I’m able to pick up the bulk bags and boxes of my favorite candy bars for recipes I’ll be using all season long.

No more running to the store every week to grab just enough ingredients to make that weekend’s desserts or treats. I can buy the big bags and have them when I need them. Not only do I save money on gas but it’s cheaper buying the bulk packs of candy too. Not to mention I don’t have to worry about not having ingredients on hand if I’m surprised with a last minute get together.

Picking up these items at Sam’s Club couldn’t have been easier. I was able to grab what I needed with no running up and down every aisle looking for things. As soon as I hit the candy aisle they were right there. Football fans will love the unique Snickers NFL branding coming just in time for Game Time Season. Be on the lookout for these special bars August – November of this year.

When I’m entertaining, I like to mix it up a little and create different foods and dessert options. Especially since many of the same people are hanging out here week after week. I don’t want to serve the same thing every weekend, that’ll get tiresome real quick. That’s why I picked up the 48 count Snickers bars and the Mars 105 count mini bars. With the assortment I can create different desserts to mix it up a bit.

One staple I do like to serve just about every week is this Snickers Dip. It is so easy to make and unbelievably delicious. It’s usually the first thing to go at every game day party.

Snickers Game Day Dip Recipe
Ingredients:
  • 12 oz. Cream Cheese
  • 8 oz. Cool Whip
  • 1/4 Light Brown Sugar
  • 6 Full Size Snickers Bars
Directions:
In a stand mixer, beat cream cheese on low until smooth. If you don’t have a stand mixer, just beat on low with a hand mixer. Add light brown sugar and combine. Gently fold in Cool Whip and blend together. Chop Snickers bars into smaller pieces and pulse in a food processor until you have small chunks. Add to cream cheese mixture and gently combine. Chill in refrigerator several hours or even overnight if you have time. This will allow all the flavors to combine.
To serve, scoop dip into a bowl and top with caramel sauce and bite sized pieces of Snickers. Serve with pretzels, apples or graham crackers. Now sit back and watch it disappear.
Another favorite of mine is chocolate cake but I wanted to really make this cake mouthwatering so I made a Twix “Game Day” Ice Cream Cake. Vanilla ice cream with Twix pieces layered between chocolate cake. Mmmmm. Is your mouthwatering yet? If not, it will be when you’re making this delicious treat.
Twix Game Day Ice Cream Cake

Ingredients:
  • 12 Twix mini bars from the Mars 105 count assortment
  • 1 Box of Devil’s Food Cake Mix
  • 1 container of vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling
Directions:
Mix cake mix according to directions and bake in two 9in. round pans. Let cool completely before moving on to next steps. In a food processor (or by hand) chop the Twix mini bars into small pieces. Set aside about 2 – 3 tablespoon of the chopped up Twix bars for the topping. Once cakes are completely cooled, place one layer of chocolate cake in a 9in springform pan to make removal easy. In a bowl mix about 10 scoops of vanilla ice cream (that has set out for about 10 minutes or so to soften) and the Twix mini pieces. Gently fold together. Using a spatula, spread a layer of ice cream on top of the chocolate cake and smooth. Add the second layer of chocolate cake and repeat with another layer of ice cream. Place the pan back into the freezer to firm up. Let freeze until ready to serve. Then remove from pan. Drizzle the top of the cake with some caramel sauce and top with more Twix bars.
These are just 2 of the recipes you could make with a giant candy assortment like this. One week I can make a Twix cake and the next I can mix it up with a yummy Milky Way cake or even a 3 Musketeers Chocolate Mousse cake. That’s one of the main reasons I love having everything in house already.  I can easily switch up the recipes without having to run to the store.
What are some of your favorite game day recipes?

I am a Twix fanatic! Thank you for posting this, your photo looks AMAZING and now I definitely want to try it! Do you think certain ice cream brands will work better than others? Ive noticed some store brands turn into a gummy sticky mess when they begin to melt.
