Homemade Hot Honey Recipe & Personalized Jar Tutorial

Homemade Hot Honey Recipe & Personalized Jar Tutorial

Making homemade hot honey is an easy and delicious way to add a little heat to your recipes. Pair it with this personalized jar tutorial and you have an easy and delicious gift idea for someone special.

Im obsessed with hot honey. A pizza shop local to me has this amazing hot honey pepperoni pizza that I couldn’t get enough of earlier this year. Pretty soon I found myself adding hot honey to all different types of recipes. Y’all this stuff is that good. Finally after buying bottles and bottles of the stuff, I realized I could just make my own. So when I planted my garden this year, I made sure to plant plenty of hot peppers so I could make my own hot honey recipe.

Once you see how easy it is, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to give it a try.

Since my garden was overflowing with hot peppers, I knew I had to make some extra hot honey to share with friends and family. But I did want to just hand them a  jar.

Where’s the fun in that?! I wanted to spruce it up a bit and let everyone know just what was inside that bottle of golden goodness.

Naturally I turned to my Cricut Joy to help me spruce up the jars a little.

You’ve seen me talk about my love of the Cricut Joy in plenty of other posts but that tiny but mighty machine really is a crafters best friend.

It’s perfect for whipping up little creations like this whenever you get the urge to get your craft on.

These would make such great holiday gifts or just a way to share the goodness of a full garden like I did.

Best of all the entire project from start to finish only took me about 30 minutes! We’ve been getting a ton of rain lately and they’re my favorite kind go craft days.

To get started you’re going to need a few things:

  • Cricut Joy (if you don’t already have one)
  • Cricut White Permanent Vinyl
  • Cricut Transfer Tape
  • Cricut tools for weeding and transferring
  • Honey (I bought a giant jar of honey from the grocery store)
  • Hot Peppers
  • Cayenne Pepper Flakes
  • Glass Canning Jars
  • Parchment paper
  • Twine for tying

Once you have all your supplies ready to go, it’s time to create your design.

First I opened Cricut Design Space right from my phone. Then I got started on my design.

I kept the design simple but added a bee on there because I’m obsessed with bees and we wouldn’t have honey without those little guys.

The great part of the Cricut Design app and using the Cricut Joy is just how simple it is to bring your designs to life. The app walks you through everything so even if you’re new to this, you’ll become a pro in no time at all.

Once I finalized my design, I just hit make it and let the machine do the work.

Once the design was cut I simply weeded out the excess pieces and applied the transfer tape to adhere it to the jars.

Then it was time to make the honey. I simply filled the jars with honey, slices of hot pepper and cayenne chili pepper flakes. You can totally control the heat here by adding a little or a lot.

To complete the look, I placed a piece of parchment paper on top and tied with some string.
