4 Tips for Planning the Perfect Road Trip Picnic

This post has been sponsored by Cracker Barrel Cheese. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Road trips any time of the year are a great way to explore new places with the family but in the summer, it’s a great time to map out a fun spot that’s perfect for a roadside picnic. Now matter where you are headed, it’s inevitable that everyone will get hungry for a snack on the way or just want to take a little break. Instead of just eating in the car, pack a picnic basket and find a special spot to enjoy a little picnic together. These simple tips will help you plan the perfect road trip picnic.

PACK THE PERFECT SNACKS

No road trip picnic is complete without snacks! On one of our latest road trips, we found the perfect park to take a little break and unwind. We mapped it out on our route, loaded up the car, and headed to our local ACME to get some picnic essentials like drinks and Cracker Barrel Pairing Boards.

These Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Yellow Cheddar Pairing Boards are the perfect picnic snack with crackers, delicious Cracker Barrel cheese, and pepperoni, all packed neatly in their own little container (yay for no mess).

Delicious Cracker Barrel Cheese makes the everyday less everyday. The cheddars in these Cracker Barrel Pairing Boards are made from proprietary cheese cultures and the cheese is selectively graded so only the finest cheese gets sold as Cracker Barrel.

ACME has all the essentials I need for the perfect picnic. I can just grab the Cracker Barrel Pairing Boards in the dairy section, a bowl of fresh fruit, and some drinks, and I have everything I need for a perfect roadside picnic.

Download the ACME app, check out more details here, and head to your local ACME to purchase today!

Once you pick up your goodies from ACME, put them into a cute picnic basket with a comfy picnic blanket and you’re all set.

All road trips should factor in a little break so everyone can have some time to stretch their legs and break up the time in the car.

Enjoying a picnic like this lets the kids unwind, run around, and play and lets us adults recharge before beginning the second leg of our journey.

GRAB A CUTE PICNIC BASKET

Now that you have your snacks, you need something to keep them in. Find a cute picnic basket, fill it with some ice packs and put your Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Yellow Cheddar Pairing Boards right inside. Make sure you use one that has plenty of space inside for all the goodies you want to bring along with you.

BRING ALONG PICNIC ESSENTIALS

In addition to the picnic basket, you’re going to need a few other essentials. The most important is a nice, big picnic blanket. Make sure it’s machine washable in case anything gets spilled and that it’s soft and comfy to sit on. I like to pack some cute and summery plastic dishes.

MAP OUT THE PERFECT SPOT

When you’re planning your route, look for a spot about halfway through to break up the trip. Look for a nice public park or recreation area for the perfect spot for your road trip picnic. Bonus points for somewhere you’ve never been before.

This park was new to us and it was such a pretty spot. We already can’t wait to plan another trip back to explore the park and maybe even try a little fishing.

When we do, I’ll definitely be packing some Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Yellow Cheddar Pairing Boards! They’re the perfect snack for us to enjoy!

I have a 5-hour road trip coming up next week so this is perfect timing. Packing a picnic will be fun and more cost-effective.

You nailed this. Having the perfect snacks is key as is a great spot. Those two things alone make a great road trip.
