Celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Shrek with an at home movie night with delicious recipes like swamp nachos, swamp juice and more.
This weekend we celebrated the 15th anniversary of Shrek. It’s hard to believe that it’s actually been fifteen years since that big green ogre was first introduced to us on the big screen. I’m actually feeling a little old with this revelation! Four movies later and countless laughs, we’re still enjoying the movies like it’s the first time we saw them. On June 7th, Shrek – The Anniversary Edition – was released on DVD along with a four movie collection. Now is the perfect time to add these classics to your movie collection if you haven’t already. To celebrate the release, my friends at Fox Home Entertainment sent me this swampathon party pack to celebrate with our own family movie night. Of course no family movie night is complete without some great food. So fit with our theme, I made some delicious Swamp Nachos and Ogre Milkshakes for dessert. They were perfect for our movie night and I can’t wait to share the recipes with you.
Our movie pack came with everything we needed for our fun movie night including a copy of the 4 movie collection, green popcorn, those awesome green mugs that were perfect for our milkshakes and more.
Once my little one woke up from her nap, we started our movie marathon. We played games, watched movies and ate yummy snacks all night and had so much fun together. When it came time for dinner, I wanted something easy that the whole family would enjoy. I went with nachos, since they’re the perfect movie night snack. They’re filling, easy to make and you can easily add a fun name like I did to fit the theme.
They were so good and the perfect and filling dish for our movie night.
We just set them up in the living room to enjoy while we watched the movies.
No movie night is complete with a delicious after dinner treat and I obviously wanted something green to fit with our theme.
As soon as I saw the awesome mugs they sent us in our party kit, I knew what I was going to make. Ogre Shakes.
Mint chocolate chip milkshakes topped with whipped cream and green little mints.
These were another quick and easy snack to make so I didn’t have to spend too much time in the kitchen. All you need is 1 quart of mint chocolate chip ice cream and one cup of milk. Blend until smooth. Pour in a glass.
Top with plenty of whipped cream and some green candies and you have an ogre-tastic milkshake. Perfect to enjoy while watching Shrek.
We had so much fun at our Shrek movie night and can’t wait to do it again!
You can re-create any of these easy recipes at home for your own family movie night. Shrek the Anniversary Edition and the 4-movie collection are both available now!
