I participated in an Ambassador program on behalf of Influence Central for Pernix Therapeutics. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
I’m pretty blessed that I have a baby that sleeps through the night most nights. There are nights she gets up here and there but for the most part she’s a sleeper just like my oldest. But what happens when mom can’t sleep. There are some nights that I’m exhausted and I could fall asleep before the kids. Then there are other nights that I can’t fall asleep and end up spending hours on the computer or my phone. Which only makes it harder for me to fall asleep and stay asleep. I won’t even talk about the nights I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep. To help get the shut-eye I need, I implemented some shut-eye techniques last month and I’m happy to say they’re working!
The first thing I did was replace the curtains in my bedroom with room darkening curtains. They’ve made such a huge difference and are really great for keeping out the street lights and sun (which is great for nap time).
Another big improvement has been signing off from my electronics and yes even my phone. Instead, I may read a book for a little while or just relax in bed without the use of my phone or laptop. That’s made a world of difference and I’ve noticed a huge decrease in the amount of times I wake up.
These simple changes have made a big difference in my sleep routine for the better. I’m sleeping better which means I’m waking up with more energy ready to take on the day.
For some people, practicing helahty shut-eye strategies alone may not be enough to manage their sleep problems. The good news is that there are effective treatment options available for those suffering from insomnia. If you have trouble sleeping through the night, you should have a talk with your doctor about your routine, lifestyle and symptoms.
