6 Simple Tips for Walking Comfort When Traveling

I participated in this campaign on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers. I received SelectFlex orthotics to facilitate my post, but my opinions and creative content are my own.
6 Simple Tips for Walking Comfort When Traveling
It’s no secret that we love to travel. No matter where we go, all our trips seem to have one thing in common, a lot of walking. Walking around exploring is half the fun of our trips but it can be exhausting and it takes a toll on our bodies.  As we gear up for some of our upcoming trips to places like Hersheypark and North Carolina, I already know there’s going to be a ton of walking involved. I’m planning ahead to make sure I’m as comfortable as I can be no matter how much walking I do. So what can you do to help make all that walking easier on your body? Well these 6 simple tips are a great start for walking comfort wherever your journey may take you this year.

6 Simple Tips for Walking Comfort When Traveling

START WALKING NOW

That’s right, get out there and start walking right now. Start with small walks around the block and gradually increase from there. You don’t have to walk miles at a time but get your body used to walking now before you arrive at your destination.

PACK BLISTER RELIEF

Blisters are inevitable if you’re doing a lot of walking. Especially if you’re not used to walking long distances. A pack of blister block or moleskin is great to have in your first aid kit just in case. Also make sure you’re wearing comfortable walking socks. One trip last year, I packed all my ankle socks and the back of my sneaker rested on my heal higher than my socks which left me with a nasty blister. So now I won’t leave home without either of these two.

STAY HYDRATED

Staying hydrated is a must.  Every road trip we head out on, each of us has our own water bottle that we bring. We fill it up before we leave the house then we keep a cooler in the car that is filled with plenty of water to refill as needed and for our destination. This was we don’t have to worry about getting dehydrated on the road or when we get to our destination.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

Your body will let you know when it’s tired.  Don’t over do it.  It’s easy to get caught up in the moment, especially when you traveling and exploring a new place but listen to your body when it tells you to take a break. Head back to the hotel for a little rest and relaxation then finish up your plans later in the day.

PICK THE RIGHT SHOES

It’s important to invest in a good pair of sneakers or walking shoes and break them in before you leave. Start wearing them around the house and while you’re out and about to make sure they’re nice and comfortable for your trip. I usually bring along two pairs of shoes for each trip, a good pair of sneakers and a comfy pair of flats for anything that requires a dressier shoe than sneakers. While the weather is still cold here in New Jersey, a comfy pair of boots also does the trick.

DON’T FORGET THE ORTHOTICS

When we were in Disney a few weeks ago for the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, we were on the go nonstop. From events to park time I didn’t have time to catch my breath. But this year, I had a secret weapon with me – SelectFlex Orthotics.

They arrived just in time for our trip and I thought what better way to see how they work than at Disney. I packed 2 simple pairs of shoes, my sneakers that I could wear with anything and for the dressier events, a simple pair of black flats. The SelectFlex Orthotics fit into both and were simple to switch out to the shoes I was wearing that day.

After putting them to the test, I won’t travel without them. In fact, I’ve been wearing them every day since. If I’m on my feet too long, I suffer from back and foot pain and with these I notice such a difference. SelectFlex absorbs your foot strike impact with every step you take and it shows.

Not only did I enjoy them but my husband did too. He only ever wears sneakers that he said were comfortable enough. He didn’t think he needed them but I persuaded him to try them out. He loved them and couldn’t believe what a difference they made and how comfortable he was even with all the walking.

The most unique and empowering feature of SelectFlex is the ability to instantly change your Comfort Zone during the day if the demands on your feet require additional support or based on your activity level (i.e., jogging, walking, standing).
With 3 adjustment levels of Flexural Arch Support (world’s only instantly adjustable orthotic) you can totally customize them to your body’s needs. The settings are Medium: 11 lbs; Firm: 14 lbs; X-Firm: 17 lbs and just require the twist of the included key to set your comfort level.

They’re available in a wide array of sizes available to fit Women’s: 6–15 / Men’s: 5–14.5. And don’t worry if it doesn’t fit inside your shoe, you can trim them to size (although mine fit fine and I didn’t have to do this) with the included guides. Now I wear them in all my shoes, even my cute gray boots.

I was at Disney when I was nine. I would love to take my daughter there. As it is, we visit many parks around us like Kennywood and HersheyPark.
