Refreshing Strawberry Wine Slushie

Refreshing Strawberry Wine Slushie

Who said slushies were just for kids? Adults will love this refreshing Strawberry Wine Slushie recipe. Perfect for these hot summer days

Strawberry Wine Slushie

When I was younger, weekends during the summer meant cookouts with family and friends.  It didn’t matter what else was going on, it always seemed like there was a party somewhere. Whether it was at our house or my aunt or uncle’s house, we always had something to do. I’m carrying on that same tradition with my family and just about every weekend, we try to cookout with friends and family. I wanted to up my drink game for our next cookout so I made a Strawberry Wine Slushie for us to enjoy.

Strawberry-Wine-Slushie  Now that I’m an adult it seems like life has gotten more hectic and busier but one thing is for sure, I want to continue to create memories with my family and friends. So I make it a point to invite them over as much as I can.

In fact, I pretty much have an open door policy.

So it’s safe to say I do a lot of entertaining. A typical summer afternoon involves the guys gathered around the grill cooking, kids in the pool swimming and the ladies under an umbrella with a bottle of wine chatting away.

For my next picnic, I wanted to spice things up a bit.

Since the weather is only getting warmer with each passing weekend, I know something cold and refreshing is the way to go.  So I took one of our favorite wines and turned it into a delicious wine slushie.

With just a bottle of Sutter Home Sweet Red Wine (or your favorite red wine), lemonade and some fresh strawberries, you’ll have something guaranteed to cool you off.

Just combine everything in a blender until smooth and freeze in an ice cube tray.

Once your wine cubes are frozen and you’re ready to make your wine slushie, remove them from the freezer and add to a blender with ice and a dash of lemonade. Blend into smoothie form, pour in a glass and enjoy.

The great thing about this recipe is you can make it ahead of time, fresh it into cubes and keep them frozen in the freezer until you’re ready to use them.

Maybe you had an unusually difficult day at work and need a cool way to unwind. On days like that you can just reach in your freezer for a delicious way to enjoy a glass of wine.

Another delicious frozen cocktail you might like are these Peach Bellini Popsicles. They’re so refreshing on a hot day!

Once frozen add a few cubes to blender to make slush. If you want a more slushy drink add some ice cubes in.
