Despite spending my entire life living in New Jersey, I’ve never been to the Poconos. It’s pretty crazy to think that there are so many wonderful places nearby that I haven’t had the chance to explore yet. Part of my is to start traveling more, starting with some of the great places that are so close to home. Growing up, we didn’t travel much. The Jersey Shore was the extend of my travels. That’s why I’ve made it such a priority to travel with my kids. I want them to learn and explore the world around them and take in all the sights. So I couldn’t wait to partner with Woodloch Resort in beautiful Hawley, PA for a weekend getaway. Everything from the beautiful and scenic ride up to the resort to the beautiful room and exquisite grounds did not disappoint. I’ve heard wonderful things about Woodloch but actually experiencing it for myself was a whole new ballgame. It was everything I heard and more.
We checked in and were greeted by the warm and friendly staff. The main building where check-in is located is also where the dining room and many of the activities were held and was only a short walk to our room. Once we checked in, we headed over to our room. We stayed in a beautiful one bedroom suite. Our room had two comfortable queen beds, a pull-out sofa bed in the living room, two bathrooms and so much more. Keep an eye out for a separate review of just our room because it was so gorgeous. Our room was right on the lake with break taking views.
As soon as we stopped and relaxed a few minutes in our room, we set out to explore the resort. Everything was within walking distance with paths leading you to to the lake, the main building or across the street to the go-karts. I have to make a special mention of those because they were so much fun!
If you’re not familiar with Woodloch, it’s an all-inclusive resort where you can add a dining plan right onto your reservation. You’re assigned a table for the length of your stay so you know where to go each day when it’s meal time. We had the same waitress for all of our meals and she was great and really remembered us right after our first meal. Having a child with a severe food allergy, I loved that she remembered each meal without me having to remind her and even made sure to bring him allergy safe food.
For each meal, there was a wide variety of offerings. Which is really great when you have a picky eater like me. There was always something on the menu he liked. The hardest part was trying to decide what we wanted to eat at each meal. All of the food was amazing and I honestly cannot wait to go back and try some of the things we didn’t have a change to try.
What I think I loved most about the resort besides the gorgeous views, amazing food and hospitality was that there was always something to do. If you wanted to relax and unwind you could do that but if you wanted to play games, ride some go-karts, participate in activities, there is always something going on. Each data breakfast there is a schedule of the day’s activities on your table. There is multiple activities scheduled at all different times throughout the day and there is something for everyone.
Since I’m traveling with a toddler and a tween. It’s important for our vacations to include activities the both of them can enjoy. For the little ones, I loved the kids activity room.
The daily activity schedule is posted right outside the room offering plenty of activities for the little ones. From the kids activities geared to the younger kids to everything available for the older kids, you can be assured you’ll never hear “mom I’m bored” at all during your stay.
I scheduled our trip for April as I was really hoping the weather warmed up enough for us to do some of the outdoor activities like fishing and more. Unfortunately for me, mother nature had other plans. It was chilly, snowy but we still had such an amazing time. We never felt bored or like we were missing out just because of the weather.
We even went go-kart riding in the snow. My little one rode with me and had so much fun! She was squealing and yelling “wee” at the top of her little lungs. The giggles when her brother drove by her were priceless. We really made some wonderful family memories during our trip.
That Friday night, we even went to the horse races. They have these fun horse races open to everyone. The kids can place their “bets” on which horse will win. Talk about a fun night! Ry even won a few rounds!
There really is so much to do at Woodloch even if the weather is not cooperation. They have an amazing game room that my big and little guy enjoyed playing in.
Overall we had such and amazing time at Woodloch. I can only imagine how much fun it is when the weather is warm. Between swimming, fishing on their beautiful lake and just spending more time outdoors, that’s enough for us to want to book our next trip.

Thank you to Woodloch Resort for hosting my family. We were provided hotel accommodations and food during our trip. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
