ZEUS Dolce Athens Review: A Relaxing Retreat on the Athenian Riviera

If you’re looking for a peaceful escape just outside the heart of Athens, ZEUS Dolce Athens offers the perfect combination of luxury, convenience, and breathtaking coastal beauty. Here’s why it became one of our favorite hotels in Greece.

When planning our trip to Greece, we weren’t just looking for a hotel, we wanted a place where our vacation could truly begin. We chose ZEUS Dolce Athens as our home for four days before setting sail on our Virgin Voyages Greek Isles cruise, and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made.

Nestled along the beautiful Athenian Riviera, the resort gave us the perfect balance of relaxation, convenience, and easy access to Athens’ incredible history.

When most people picture Athens, they imagine standing beneath the Acropolis, wandering the charming streets of Plaka, or enjoying dinner overlooking centuries of history. While all of those experiences absolutely deserve a place on your itinerary, choosing where to stay can completely shape your trip.

As we planned our long-awaited journey to Greece, we weren’t looking for a hotel in the middle of the city’s hustle and bustle. We wanted a place where our vacation could truly begin the moment we arrived. A place to unwind after an overnight international flight, where we could explore Athens at our own pace, and ease into the adventure ahead.

That’s exactly what we found at ZEUS Dolce Athens.

Arriving in Athens Couldn’t Have Been Easier

Flying internationally can be exhausting, despite a relatively smooth flight. We flew Emirates directly from Newark, NJ. While we slept most of the overnight flight, we stayed awake just enough to really enjoy the experience.

After landing at Athens International Airport, the last thing we wanted was to navigate unfamiliar public transportation while carrying luggage and trying to stay awake through the effects of jet lag.

One of the things we appreciated most about ZEUS Dolce Athens was how simple they made our arrival.

Before we left home, the hotel helped arrange a private airport transfer. Knowing that someone would be waiting for us after our overnight flight immediately took away so much of the stress that often comes with international travel.

After collecting our luggage, we met our driver and were quickly on our way to the resort. Within minutes, the scenery began changing from the busy airport surroundings to the beautiful coastline of the Athenian Riviera.

Instead of beginning our vacation feeling rushed, we arrived feeling relaxed. Sometimes it’s the small details that leave the biggest impression, and having transportation arranged before we even landed made our first day in Greece effortless.

About the Zeus Dolce Athens

The ZEUS Dolce Athens is a 5-star luxury, seaside resort located in Brauron (Vravrona), on the eastern coast of Attica, about 15-20 minutes from Athens International Airport. The resort featuring sea-water pools, a full-service spa, and multiple dining options, which we throughly enjoyed.

First Impressions

The moment we arrived at the resort, it felt as though we had stepped into a completely different side of Athens. Rather than towering buildings and busy streets, we were welcomed by palm trees, beautifully landscaped grounds, and the sparkling blue waters of the Aegean Sea.

The atmosphere was calm. Peaceful. Exactly what we needed after nearly a full day of travel.

The lobby felt modern and inviting, while the staff greeted us warmly and made check-in quick and seamless. Almost immediately, we realized this wasn’t simply a convenient airport hotel. It was a destination all on its own.

Our Room

Our room was spacious, bright, and beautifully designed with modern furnishings that immediately made us feel comfortable.  We booked a Bungalow Suite with private pool. hoping to enjoy the pool in our down time.

What I didn’t take into account was how COLD the pool water was. These pools weren’t heated like the main pool and while the temperatures in May were warm, they weren’t warm enough to take the chill out of the pool.

After long days spent exploring ancient ruins and walking through Athens, returning to a room that felt peaceful and inviting made all the difference. Even if we couldn’t relax in the pool.  Just sitting outside on the patio looking at the mountains was enough for me.

The comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, thoughtful amenities, and plenty of natural light created the perfect place to recharge before another day of sightseeing.

One of my favorite parts of staying here was simply waking up each morning knowing we didn’t have to rush.

Instead of navigating crowded city streets before breakfast, we could enjoy a slower start to the day while taking in the beautiful coastal surroundings.

Resort Amenities That Encourage You to Slow Down

One thing I loved about ZEUS Dolce Athens was that it encouraged us to actually enjoy our vacation instead of constantly feeling like we needed to be somewhere.

Between sightseeing days, we spent time exploring the property, relaxing by the pool, and simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere that surrounded the resort. Breakfast became one of our favorite daily rituals.

There’s something special about beginning your morning with incredible food while overlooking the beautiful Athenian Riviera.

It set the tone for each day before we headed into the city to explore.

Whether you want to spend your afternoon by the pool, enjoy the beach, indulge in the spa, or simply relax with a cup of coffee overlooking the water, the resort offers plenty of opportunities to slow down and appreciate the beauty around you.

Using ZEUS Dolce Athens as Our Home Base

Many visitors choose to stay directly in downtown Athens. We wanted to do something a little different.

Instead of spending every evening surrounded by traffic and city noise, we wanted somewhere peaceful to return to after a full day of sightseeing.

ZEUS Dolce Athens gave us exactly that.

The hotel even assisted us in arranging transportation into Athens, making it incredibly easy to spend the day exploring without worrying about navigating unfamiliar roads or finding parking. The front desk showed us all of the area attractions, helped us secure tickets and arranged for a drive to take us and bring us back.

One of the highlights of our trip was finally standing atop the Acropolis, taking in one of the most iconic views in the world.

Walking through the ancient ruins, exploring Plaka, and experiencing the incredible history of Athens was everything we had hoped it would be.

More Than Just a Hotel

Looking back, ZEUS Dolce Athens became much more than simply a place to sleep. It became the place where our Greek adventure truly began.

Those four days gave us time to adjust to the time difference, recover from jet lag, immerse ourselves in Athens, and simply enjoy being together before our itinerary became much busier.

When embarkation day finally arrived for our Virgin Voyages Greek Islands cruise we felt rested, refreshed, and excited instead of exhausted.

Rather than rushing from an airport directly to a cruise terminal, we’d already spent several unforgettable days discovering Greece’s rich history and culture. It completely changed the pace of our vacation.

Instead of feeling like Athens was just a stop before the islands, it became an experience of its own. I can’t recommend spending a few days in Athens either before or after your cruise to really take in the culture and the city.

In fact, I can’t wait to go back to this resort with the kids. With so much to do and see, I know they’ll love it as much as we did.

Whether you’re planning to spend several days exploring Athens, relaxing along the Athenian Riviera, or beginning a larger journey through Greece, this resort provides an incredible balance of comfort, convenience, and tranquility.

It became the place where we slowed down, settled into Greece, and began one of the most memorable adventures we’ve ever shared.
