Road Trip Diaries – Fall Bucket List Ideas
Fall is hands down my favorite time of year. From the cooler temperatures to the beauty all throughout nature that Autumn brings, I cannot get enough. While I know that it still is technically Summer, I’ve already noticed a change in temperatures and I’m eagerly awaiting Fall’s arrival. It’s also the perfect time of year to hit the road for some fun and exciting adventures. Here are some fun ideas to create a Fall bucket list that’ll make Summer jealous.
While the Summer months are big for travel here in New Jersey, once the kids head back to school, crowds are significantlly lower. Making it the perfect time to get out and explore.
VISIT YOUR FAVORITE ATTRACTIONS WITHOUT THE CROWDS
I live in New Jersey, and if you’ve ever been to the Jersey Shore, you know just how crowded the boardwalks can be during the summer. Once the end of August rolls arounds, the crowds dramatically decline and it makes for a great time to visit. In fact, it’s become a family tradition to close out summer with a trip to Jenkinsons Boardwalk in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. We ride the ride, play games, indulge in all our favorite boardwalk treats without the huge crowds.
When it’s not so crowded it gives you a chance to find new places you might miss when it’s super crowded. Like this amazing seafood restaurant one block from the boardwalk. We drive by it on every trip but somehow never noticed it until our last trip. It was dinnertime, there was no wait and the weather was glorious so we stopped for a bite to eat.
They had the best fish ‘n chips I’ve had in my life. It was so good and I’m already dreaming about going back. When you’re in Point Pleasant a visit to is a must
TAKE A NATURE HIKE
The cooler temperatures are perfect time to get out and explore nature. Throw on your favorite pair of boots and hit your local park or nature trail. Observe the trees, animals and create a nature scavenger hunt for the kids. Even if you don’t have one close by, plan a day trip around visiting a park in your state.
VISIT A PICK-YOUR-OWN-FARM
Maybe grab the kids and go pick-your-own fruits like peaches or apples or hit up a local farm stand to grab some delicious treats and get cooking. Both of my kids love helping me in the kitchen and it’s a great way for them to get comfortable cooking and trying new things. We’d recently grabbed some apples from our local farm stand to whip up these delicious Caramel Apple Nachos.
PLAN A WEEKEND AWAY
Whether you want to getaway to a little bed and breakfast, a local theme park or go family camping, plan a weekend road trip to explore some of the beauty that Autumn brings. Pick a spot where you’ll be able to spend plenty of time outdoors and enjoy the cooler air and beautiful sights. Plan a weekend at the lake fishing, or a weekend down the shore riding bikes along the ocean.
HAVE A PICNIC IN THE PARK
While Summer is king for picnics, Fall is a close second. Pack a picnic basket, load up the car and find a new park to explore. Let the kids collect the a rainbow of fallen leaves and enjoy the great outdoors as a family.
If you know me, you know I’m always up a for a road trip and we’ve already begun checking some of these things off of our Fall Bucket List. Our first road trip in the Hyundai Tucson Night took us to Mercer County Park for a hike through the woods after dinner.
When we were leaving the kids spotted a family of dear nearby so we stopped so they could watch and I snapped a few pictures. If you look closely, you’ll see a few more in the bushes peaking out at us.
If you’re familiar with the Hyundai Tuscon, then let me introduce you to the Hyundai Tucson Night edition. This 5 seat, compact SUV is a special ediiton Tuscon that combines bold looks with a ton of premium additions like 19-inch alloy wheels with black finish and gloss-black side mirror caps. Inside the vehicle, you’ll find fany aluminum-alloy sport pedals, a leather steering wheel, plus front and rear LED maplights.
Our family of four found it to be comfortable and sporty while looking fierece with the addition of 19-inch black alloy wheels.
I loved the panoramic sunroof. It was perfect for enjoying these cooler eveings and the kids loved it for star-gazing on our adventures.
Under the hood you’ll find a 175-HP turbo charged 4-cylinder engine that packs plenty of punch for the average driver. I really enjoyed that punch of power under the hood.
It comfortably held our family of 4 and we could have easily fit a 5th person in the back seat even with the car seat with plenty of room.
The trunk space was perfect for hauling our luggage, and groceries when we ran errands. So if you’re hauling the kids sports equipemnt around, or filling it up with your prizes from the boardwalk, you’ll have plenty of room for everything you need.
