Spinach Berry Smoothie Recipe
Mornings are crazy at my house. I need to get the baby fed and ready for the day, my son’s lunch made, breakfast made and still make sure he gets out the door on time with everything he needs. It’s hectic and I don’t always have time to sit down and eat. I’m also someone who can’t eat a big meal first thing in the morning, but if I don’t have something I’ll start snacking on junk food by ten o’clock.
The best part about this smoothie is that it’s loaded with spinach and it’s something my son actually eats. The first time I announced that I put spinach in there, he had every excuse in the world why he couldn’t drink it. I let it go and realized next time I wouldn’t say anything. I would just make it and give it to him. That’s exactly what I did and ten minutes he came running in the kitchen asking for more. That’s what I call a mom win!
After about a week of him drinking the smoothies with spinach, I finally told him my secret. He was shocked but now readily asks for spinach in all versions of my smoothies. Any time I get him to eat more veggies is a plus for me.
- 1 Banana sliced
- 1 1/2 cups of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 3 big handfuls of spinach
- 2 – 2 1/2 cups of OJ
- 1 tbsp. of flax seed
I need to figure out how to make this w.o the bananas. I am a smoothie fan and on the search for the perfect green one. Maybe this will work if I tweak it some!
Oh you can totally make this w/o bananas! I do it all the time and it it's just as yummy!!!
I have never though of spinach and strawberries; looks refreshing.
